Can I get a ballpark on how long you can record video on a NX70V w/ an empty 128 MB Memory Stick? I want to lay it on a shelf & document the hell my Spin Class instructor puts us through.
Thanks, GA

What's Spin?
It also depends on #1) what quality (there are two different qualities for video, so different actually maximum times), and #2) if theres anything else on the mem card...
On the NX-70V depending on the quality you use (this goes for video, audio, and pictures) it will tell you how much time you have left (or # of pictures).....
Also, I believe that although it can record up to hour and 14 minutes, the video actually does not record past 60 minutes... It will simply stop recording once you hit 60 minutes. All you have to do then is just go press record again though....

Looking at my Clie, with 20.2mb free, I can record 12 minutes and 1 second. This is on the high-quality video recording mode (192kbps). Multiply that by 6.336 to make 128mb free, and it comes to 76.133 minutes, or 1 hour, 16 minutes, and 8 seconds. You can set time limits on recordings or let it record for an unlimited amount of time (until the memory card is full). Since 128mb sticks only go for $30-40 after rebates nowadays, it's feasible to get one stick for recording and then a 64mb or 128mb stick for your apps.

Wow, imagine some day soon I hope, fill the MS first, then start "reel two" the CF card. Or even better 1 Gig MS and then 1 Gig MicroDrive!
You could almost video your entire DAY!
But the battery, the battery, Ahh there is the trip up hee hee
Egads I just thought about it $600.00 NX, $880 I Gig MS, $500 1 Gig MicroDrive $ 1980.00 Total !!!!

If you go under Movie Recorder, then configuration (settings), the TimeLimitRec has the following choices:
3 Sec
5 Sec
7 Sec
10 Sec
15 Sec
Max (60min)
Also, according to the documentation that came on the CD (go to Clie Info -> Manuals -> Clie Application Manual -> Select Movie Record ....)
• Bit rate: Tap the arrow and select the recording mode. You can record continuously for maximum 60 minutes in one recording.
- V:192/A:32 kbps : Movie size 160x112/Video 192 kbps/Audio 32 kbps/Recordable for approx. 70 minutes on a “Memory Stick” media (128MB)
- V:96/A:32 kbps : Movie size 160x112/Video 96 kbps/Audio 32 kbps/Recordable for approx. 2 hours on a “Memory Stick” media (128MB)
If there is a 3rd party app which allows for unlimiting recording time, please let me know.... So I guess to answer the original question (according to the manual) 70 Minutes for high quality, and 2 hours for the lower quality.....

Here's an interesting fact concerning battery life and video recordings... You can also turn on the hold switch during "voice recordings," and it will save power too...
On battery life during recording
With a fully charged battery, your CLIÉ handheld can record movie images continuously for approximately following length of time.
• With HOLD switch in protect position: Approximately 3.5 hours
• With HOLD switch not in protect position: Approximately 1.5 hours

No, there is auxillary battery packs available, so all day recording is not too far-fetched, if you could use the one gigabyte stick or drive ;)
I guess it all depends on how you SPIN it...

Well the easier (and cheaper) way would be to just keep your clie plugged in; however, I thought it was pretty interesting, that you could save over double the battery life just by killing the screen (turn on hold).... I actually learned the hold thing from another poster on this board, although I was not aware of the amount of battery time saved...
