Well, it happened today. I put the first battle scars on my new UX50. I was walking out of one of my buildings through the parking lot and was pulling my UX from my back pocket to get in the car and (FUMBLE.....OH S#!T) It hit the pavement, top dfacing down.

I picked it up expecting the worst. I was soon amazed at how liitle damage was done. A few VERY minor scuff on the top cover and that's it. Still works perfectly. I don'y however recommend you persue your own drop testing. I am one of the lucky few that gets a company supplied PDA of my choice...HEHE..

It's not the fall, it's the sudden stop at the bottom. :-) Super to hear it's still running for you. My 'first' NX fell, but did a splash when it hit the bottom. The water seemed to soften the fall - and softened the electronics inside too!

just to make a point if you ever drop someting in water, there is a GOOD chance that it is not broken providing that you dont try to turn it on right away. if you put it near an oven at very low temp for a 1-2 days, and then let it air dry for another 5 there is a VERY good chance that it will infact work.

you can also rightaway remove the battery, then rinse it in PURE water (distilled, or rubbing alcohol) then let it dry.

Glad to hear it. One of the reasons I started using the wrist strap (even when I use a case). Plus, in case your're mugged, it makes a great eye slasher:D

You also want to watch out for the bezel on the screen. I've heard that its very sensitive

I dropped mine and got a little scrape on the "dome" that the stylus goes into. under the silver color it looks like white plastic.
I hope none of us ever drops ours again!

good to hear that everything are alright with your UX! :D
I've dropped mine before without a case also, & at the time I also expected the worst, but no scratches at all. But the plastic cap next to the internal camera got a little dent & has a small crack. :( Seems that the unit had landed at its' corner, but it could have been worst. Self comforting i guess... heh.. But everything are working fine. so... :p
