I've converted the first episode of the Animatrix series, The Second Renaissance - Part One, into Clie format. The file is roughly 40MB in size, 9 minutes long, and 320x480 widescreen. You can download it from here (http://www.mjpd.com/animatrix/)
Also available there is a short trailer, showing off some scenes from future Animatrix films, as well as some nice footage of the CGI version that's coming out soon. It's only about 4MB.
Enjoy!!

I tried downloading the file last night, but apparently the file is corrupted, or something along those lines - WinZip wouldn't open it. Since I'm using a dial-up, I can't try again until tonight. Has anyone else been successful in downloading it?

Sorry it didn't work for you. I currently have it on my Clie and it plays fine. Maybe I should unzip it and just post the pdb? If others are having this same problem, let me know, and I'll do that...

That might be the problem, but then it might not... It could also be that I just need to try d/ling it again.
Either way, thanks for going through the trouble of converting and posting the file.

The video is nice and clean, but I can't get any audio.
Thoughts?

erobinson, what device are you using? I'm using an NR70V, and thus optimized these files for that device. Did you try connecting headphones to see if there's audio that way? Let me know, cause there's an "audio boost" option in Kinoma that I haven't tried yet, but might need to...

Hey, mjpd1, I finally got it. Other than a couple of slowdowns (probably due to the fact that I've only got another 300K available on my MS) it looks and sounds great.
Nice job! Thanks!

Yeah I noticed a few lags in the playback as well, so it might not be just you. They only occured when the video was at it's fastest parts (the wormhole effects if you will). My guess is the processor isn't capable of keeping up with the video playback at those parts. Anyone else notice this?

there are really video lags. i don't think they are due to the video itself because the matrix reloaded and the animatrix previews also have fast scenes but they don't lag a bit. try reencoding it again in a different way.

just downloaded the animatrix file (thank God for cable modem) i have nx70v adn when i run it using kinoma i get a window titled "Incompatible Audio" which says, "This movie contains audio encoded in a format which is not supported on this handheld. You may still play the movie but the audio will not be heard."
i can tell you that running it "looks" great. i didn't notice any lag, but it may be more evident when the audio is working.
i got the same message when trying the matrix reloaded file from your site. i have no idea what sony or kinoma did when they made the move to palm os 5, but it is very unusual that things the older models can run well can't be run on the new stuff.
any ideas (oh, yeah. hooking up the headphones didn't work either. :-)

Well crap...I assumed that if these worked on NR-series, that they would work with NX...I use the "Clie Audio" format with a bitrate of 66kbps. That's about the highest audio quality you can get out of Kinoma, so if anything I would think that the NR's would struggle with it, but certainly not the NX. Is EVERYONE with an NX getting this error message?
Also, I don't know what is causing the lags in the video. I use the exact same settings in every video I convert, and this stands to be the only video that I experience any amount of lag in. I never watched the source file that I converted, so maybe I just got a corrupt or bad copy of the file itself. I'll try downloading it from elsewhere and converting it again.

I have an NX and that's the error message I get.
Can you try to encode it in the Yamaha format?

'scuse my ignorance, but what is the animatrix? does it have anything to do with the matrix?

I think it's stories that revolve around the movie The Matrix, but are anime.

The Animatrix actually sets the stage for the Matrix movie. Tells you how it all started and stuff. Kinda cool. They'll all eventually be released in DVD format, but for now you can only view select episodes on the website. Or you can download them in Clie format from my site.

I can't download the file anymore?

Oops! Sorry, I exceeded my storage limit on my server. I've requested an increase, so as soon as they do that, the downloads will be active again...
Every one on the nx will have that problem, you have to put it in Yamaha Audio. The probelm is that you will need to have 2 files for each movie (one nr and one nx) which will really tie up your storage.

Yeah, plus double the amount of time it takes me to convert these files. I wish they worked on the NX, but there's not much I can do about that. I have an NR, so NR-compatible they will be:)

I am not complaining.... :D
I have not tried this, but the NX version might be compatible with NR? i know its a longshot but maybe it will work.

I definately know where you're coming from. Imagine I was supporting 4-5 models of Clie (plus the Tungsten) So the drive space I was taking up was about 6gb of files plus all the bandwidth (good thing it was all free)...but rather unfortunate that it ended abruptly...
I've been looking around to see where I could get something comparable for clieflix (free) but nothings ... LOL!
Cheers!

Hey I am entering my username and password but still says not registered???
Anyhow...the NR and NX formats are different...it will run on the NX but without sound.
Someone posted correctly...you'll either need to use Image Converter to make it an MQV or re-encode with Kinoma as Yamaha ADPCM audio.
Cheers!

Sorry Mr. Spic, I don't know of any FREE multi-gb web hosting companies:). I'm using www.one-hosting.com. Right now I've got 400MB and 30GB of traffic for only 7.95/month. Not bad, but I'll be increasing my storage VERY soon. Additional 100MB is only an extra $1/month.
As far as your username/password not working, send me an e-mail and give me your info, and I'll fix it (if I can). I'm looking at my Member's List right now, and no Mr.Spic is listed...
