I was installing it on XP Pro Tablet edition. THe problem seemed to be with InstallShield hanging while trying to remove backup files that do not exist.

Have you been able to find a solution to the Palm Desktop install problem on the Toshiba Tablet/XP combo? It's causing quote a bit of grief for me here...

Jake

I managed to get it working .
I first logged in as local Administrator
I uninstalled everything I could find including usb drivers and the kitchen sink. I then dl'ed the latest version of t desktop from Palm One and installed that.
that seemed to fix things.
I can now install apps, link to Outlook and sync with Exhange. However, I can not sync with Palm desktop.
Since I can sync with Exchange and from there to Yahoo, I am not complaining as I can access all my data from anywhere now.

Try install without first hooking up the clie on the cradle/cable. I some drama when I started with trying to guide the misdirected 'New hardware wizard' trying to do it's own thing. I fumbed through it by making some choices - after it searched for a while it gave up & let me install all the software myself. -- worth a shot?
