View Full Version : HELP! Hotsync Problem!

all a sudden when I try to hotsync it says, "identifying user" and then it stops and says "cleaning up" without syncing! Then in the log it says, "an application on the PC failed tp respond to a confirmation query. This application may need to be restarted." What application?? Hotsync manager is running, what else do I need?? I did a soft reset and still no solution!!

Make sure your data is backed up on the PC, and do a hard reset. Copy your Program Files/Sony Handheld/Username/backup folder to another folder on your PC. Eliminate all additional applications in your backup folder except for the original Palm apps. Set your conduits to Desktop overwrites PDA, and hotsync. Then add your other apps one by one until you find the program causing the problem.

ok, I realize this is a dumb question, but, do I need "backup buddy" or something for that? Or does the sony backup itself on hotsync? Is it a problem with a program on my clie? or a problem with a program on my PC??

ok, I followed the directions on sony's support page and reinstalled the palm desktop and now it works, except it won't let me install any 3rd party software, oh well, at least it syncs!

THANK YOU for posting this in the forum!
I had been rying to Hotsync my NX70V for the past 2 days. Always got stuck on the first step of "Identifying User."
It was driving me nuts! I thought it might be the new version of ePocrates I recently installed. Luckily I didnt have to hard reset my Clie.
Thanks again, uninstalling and reinstalling Palm Desktop fixed the problem.
