After upgrading Pelaca,s cf drivers my audio/recorder programs will not work. When i bring up my audio player i get error message saying..... Missing library / or this device does not support Memory stick media...... And my recorder software just boots back to desktop screen. When i first iinstalled audioplayer 3.1 it booted up and saw my 2 songs i copied to CF card but when i went to play it locked up . and now i get error message. I upgraded memory stick MS pro update before upgrade and turned off background play. have not done hard reset yet. Deleted 3.1 audio player twice and reinsatlled same problem... I thought audio player was in rom ? So i couldn't rewite over it? Looking for some help thanks..........

redownload the CF Utility version and install it...Pelaca said that he missed a library when making the first o the 1.08 version. The new zip file includes the missing library.

What date was that i just did it 10/6/03. And downloaded it again 10/09/03. Still have same problem.... Tried to delete file through fileZ comes up with error. When i go and hotSync said file already there would not rewrite it. i will try through ms import. both the audio and record programs still screwed up.

you have to uncheck the read only then do a soft reset on back on the CLIE. Or try renaming with FileZ the type (Libs to LibX or something) then soft reset and delete and start fresh.

Tray,

You mention that Pelaca said he missed a library when making the first "o" (whatever "o" means" the 1.08 version.

When I click on the link to get CRUtility.zip as posted in the "Newbies read this......" message, the file that I get has version 1.07.

How can I get the latest version of the CF Utility?

I used Pelaca's link in the message at the top of this thread to download CF Utility 1.08. I had to rename CFStorageLib.prc and CFSlot_hack.prc in order to install the new files, as the ones that were there already would not allow themselves to be deleted no matter what I tried with FileZ. I transferred the new SonyMMUtilLib.prc from version 1.08 to my Memory Stick and then to RAM using CLIE Files.

Now my Audio Player and Recorder both work fine, and see the CF card (SanDisk 256MB).

I still can't get the DataImport utility to work. There is NO Setup.exe in version 1.08 of CF Utility. I used the one in the old version, but the SNY CLIE MASS USB STORAGE (CF) connection shows in Control Panel/System/Device Manager, but there is a disfunction somewhere, as it is shown with an exclamation point in a yellow diamond. My connections are good as HotSync works just fine.

Any thoughts on how to get DataImport to work would be greatly appreciated. Until it does I am transferring data via a SanDisk card reader.

Iam having the same trouble with my NX 70v. Audioplayer and Voice recorder "Missing Library". Audioplayer had worked fine with Viking 256 flash for a half a day.

Well, i think the sandisk card reader is better (if it is USB 2.0 then DEFINITLY better). But, anyways, the yellow exclamation point means that the drivers aren't updated...click on that and update the drivers, doign a search. Find the correct .inf files (USBStor or whatever...not sure what it was....i think i wrote them up there up before).

You guys should realize that 1.08, all it adds is modem drivers. The driver is the exact same. So you don't have to update that (well maybe, i'm not sure). And you should only upgrade if you need your modem supported. When i downloaded the drivers, it was CF Utility 1.07, so i'm just sticking with it and my NX70.

BTW, what OS are you using?

I''m running Windows 98 SE and Palm OS 5. Unfortunately when I attempt to add drivers I get a message stating that no drvers have been loaded for this device as none are required, although Device Manager shows SONY CLIE MASS USB STORAGE (CF) as the current driver, and it refuses to install one.

The reason I wanted 1.08 was to get the SonyMMUtilLib.prc file, which Sony's site was not coughing up all day yesterday.

Thanks for the input.

you didn't have to update to 1.08....coudla just downloaded the SonyMMUtilLib.prc separately, put it on memorystick then copied to ram.....Try uninstall dataimport/ms export and whatever...redownload the setup from my site (like dod.hpi.net/trayip/USBStor.zip or something) and install it and try to do the drivers again. Also, before installing setup, go into the device manager, right click on the exclamation point and click on uninstall...then when you reinstall the drivers maybe it'll refind itself or whatever. :)

Good Luck!

Hi Tray,

Thanks for the advice. I'll be glad to give uninstalling DataImport, downloading setup and installing it one more time, although I've done it many times already.

One of the problems associated with this is that the Sony connection doesn't show up all the time in Device Manager. No idea why, since it uses the same connection as the cradle, and HotSync works consistently. There's just no consistent recognition of either the MS or the CF.

Your driver of Sony Mass Storage (CF) is not for Win9x, that is XP only. As the driver I sent to Pelaca is for XP. And MS SCSI driver, just use your original one from CD is ok.

Thanks, Jackho,

Does that mean if I install the drivers from my CD will continue to see the CF card?

Right now I'm able to read data (MP3 files, photos, etc.) from the CF Card, and I'd hate to lose that capability.

Assuming your recommendation is correct, the author of the "NEWBIES READ THIS.........." document should make some immediate changes to that document to help those users who are running Windows 9x. Right now that document is VERY misleading, in that it clearly mentions using SONY CLIE MASS USB STORAGE (CF) with Windows 98.

Thanks again,

John

I said that should be MS SCSI driver. You can use driver from your CD to let you read MS first (as you mention you can't read both MS and CF).

Driver is OS specific. When Pelace asked me to send him driver, he DIDN'T tell me that he will release and share it. So I just sent XP version to him. You can ask who has NX73/80 to send you CF SCSI driver.

But actually I'm not sure Pelaca did update of driver or not. So if it just as same as I sent to him, then it SHOULDN'T work in Win9x.

And you said that post is misleading, I don't think so. That is the problem of Pelaca's package, not the writer. And he just told others about the steps he did. Although maybe that is not the best way in installation (IMHO)...

Again I appreciate your information that the drivers contained in the SONY CLIE MASS USB STORAGE (CF) file are not intended for use under Windows 9X. I'll send a message to that effect to the "NEWBIES READ THIS" thread. Hopefully they will update the main message so others won't try to use it in their NX60/70 devices under Windows 9X.

If anyone reading this has the CF SCSI driver for the NX73/80 I would greatly appreciate it if they could send me a copy.

Thanks again,

John

Thanks for the help on the audio/recoder player problem. I guess i just needed to transfer file to memory stick then to ram. One question though can i ever enable back ground play in audio player????? I liked using that feature!!!!. I also have a few questions on USB drivers on another post.
