E&B caes has changed their outlook on the NX73/80 and now has 2 different cases available. A bifold zipper case and a flip-top case. Both are available with or without a belt clip!
Check them out here: http://www.ebcases.com

I agree. It is starting to get harder to decide which case to get for my NX80V.;)

I think this will be THE case that I get for my NX80 for 2 main reasons:
1.) Thin
2.) Can sync while in the case
Unfortunately it is backordered since it is brand new. :(

I agree, sync in case is key. I ordered mine yesterday!!! I will post a review when I receive it.

are there any other cases that allow for syncing in case?
Also, which NX80 case is the thinnest?
have you guys taken a look at the piel frama case? http://www.pielframa.net/prodi.asp?ID=462
I have my capdase flip top and it is really thin, but unfortunately I can't sync while in the case.
Also, anyone know if there is a speaker cutout for the EB case?

The EB case looks pretty darn thin.
Here is a picture showing the NX80 in the EB case while hotsyncing, as well as the speaker cut out:
http://www.ebcases.com/catalog/SPNX80_all.jpg
The ONLY negative, IMHO, is that there is almost zero protection for the Sides of the unit with this case. However, I haven't really seen any flip-type cases for the NX80 that did cover the sides very well, and some of them even blocked access to certain features. The positive, though, is that this case does cover and protect the camera silo, unlike the the Bellagio case (The only other case for the NX80 that allows you to hotsync while in the case, AFAIK). Also, the flip top on the Bellagio case is only held on with two little strips of leather. I'm not very abusive to my precious, but still ... I worry about the durability. I have decided that the EB case is everything I've been looking for and will go ahead and place an order. I'll post back here once I get it and let everyone know how it is.
I had an E&B case for my old Casio Pocket PC many years ago, and it was great. I have high hopes for this one as well.

Thanks for the heads up about the Piel Frama. I will take a closer look at that one.:D

The Piel Frama case looks almost Identical to the EB case, except the inner part has that little Clie cut-out, and the top looks a little ... poofier? Maybe it's just the angle.
It looks like it could also be a winner. However, Piel Frama is overseas, and their case is 60 euros. That's over $70 US. The EB case is about half that, and I imagine shipping is a bit less.
One advantage with the Piel Frama, though, is that you get a choice of colors. The E&B only comes in Black ...

well, I too took the plunge and ordered the case!
I hope it's thinner than the case I have right now, which I think is pretty dang thin. I really hope its the last NX80 case I have to get, i've already been through 2 of them.
Other cases for your viewing pleasure:

Bellagio Designs: http://www.bellagiodesigns.com/showcategory3.php?cod_category3=27
These two cases look pretty thick though. Why o why won't VAJA make an ivolution case for the NX80?? I say we all constantly email them to request it!
I'll also let you guys know when I get it! I can't wait!

FYI
My EB NX80 case was ordered on Friday 10/10 and shipped today, 10/14 -- even though it was listed as Backordered.
I selected 2 day shipping, so it should be here Thursday.
I will let everyone know how it goes.

no wifi cutout..
r0b456

No, there's no WiFi cut-out. If you plan on leaving your WiFi card in the NX80 at all times, you would be better set with something like the Bellagio case.
[Edit]
Yoyo - My confirmation came at around 3pm, and I ordered pretty early Friday morning. If you ordered later in the day, then it's posible your case will be shipped out earlier tomorrow if it didn't make it out today.

I hope so... I can't wait til my case comes in! I just ordered another NX80 for my sister, and if this case works out, im definately going to order another E&B. I'm anxiously checking the status of my order... alas still backordered. Btw, I shouldn't have paid for regular shipping! dah now it's gonna take even longer!
Anyone know where E&B is located?

i just got the xigma case for my NX80 and i'm pretty happy with it, but this EB case looks real nice too...
but this case may have the same problem as mine: muffled audio from the speaker. from what i can see in the photos, this case has 15 or 20 tiny holes arranged in a circle- but the NX itself has 4 slots arranged in a line.
so if you listen to mp3s alot (like i do :)) you'll probably end up taking it out of the case (like i do :()
anyone know of a case which doesn't block the speaker slots at all??

I listen to MP3's for a couple hours a day, every day.
But I *never* use the external speaker. No way. The NX series' proprietary Audio system has been a bane to many ClieSource members' existence. But the NX80 can produce some amazing quality sound. Great stuff. Listening to music through the external speaker would be like using those stock headphones that Sony included in the box with the NX. What a waste, really. I am currently using a cheap (relative) pair of KOSS "The Plug" headphones while I wait to order a pair of Shure earplugs. The KOSS are only $20 while the Shure start at $100. For $20, the KOSS are the best store bought headphones I have ever used. Really great sound. I also use them on my laptop for DVD movie watching, and the sound is so much more rich with them.
The speaker hole is important, as I do use the external speaker for things like games and alarms, etc. So I don't want to have to take the NX out of the case every time I play Warfare Inc and need to be able to hear if there are any gunfights breaking out.
Just for a proper review, though, I will listen to some MP3's both with and without the case when I get it and report back here to give everyone an idea as to how much distortion there might be.

I picked up my EB slipper case about an hour ago from the mail room. I am playing around with it now. I could make a few comments, but I think I will wait until I can do a full review. This thread has gotten pretty long, so I will make a new post for it when the time comes. I have been trying some things, but would like a chance to check a few others before starting the review. Hopefully I'll have it up tonight.

awesome Rob! My status still shows backordered =( I guess I shoulda ordered a little bit earlier!
Just tell us this: Is the case thin?!?!
I'm looking for the thinnest case possible for the NX80 series and I'm hoping this case is gonna do it! My colleage has the EB Slipper for his T2 and it is quite slim!
r0b456
10-16-2003, 05:06 PM
Yes, the EB case is quite slim.
It's more like an NX80 Belt when you look at it.
Basically, the case simply providing you Finish protection for your NX80/73. A minimal footprint is going to mean minimal protection.
IMHO, it's about as thin as you're going to get while still being practical. What I mean by that is that the top and bottom of the case have very thin cardboard inserts that keep them sturdy. They're really not for Protection -- I take that back -- the top flap seems to have a thin little cushion of air, so as to protect the screen if left in tablet mode. The reinforced back simply makes it more sturdy so that the entire case isn't flopping around whenever you open it.
I will work on my review, and will include some pictures for everyone.

I was really looking forward to the Bellagio NX80V case after reading about their great customer service and case design, but had a horrible experience with them... Ordered a color case at the beginning of October. Two weeks to get the materials in; fine. In two weeks, sent an e-mail and was told that they would inform me when they shipped it out in a few weeks; that was fine, too. Also asked about embossing around the turn of the month while I was waiting, though I decided I didn't need it. By last week, however, I had been waiting for over a month and sent an e-mail inquiry that was never returned; this week I sent an e-mail telling them I would cancel my order and spread the word about their poor communication and customer service. To be fair, I did recieve an apologetic e-mail that promised to ship it overnight and that Bellagio accepted full responsibility. The very next day, however, I recieved an e-mail blaming customs, my inquiry about embossing, and stated that they would send it by 2 day air. I really wanted this case, but am fed up with the odious cusomter service, and plan to cancel my order and send it back. The wait and bad treatment just aren't worth the case and price I'm paying for it. =( I know this sounds severe, but I will post the e-mails to back it up if anyone's curious...

I guess there are some people that just don't give you a break. No need for hostility and spamming posts. This gentleman has been less than understanding.
Lot's of orders (fortunately) and, yes, one or 2 may go awry. But we do have thousands of very satisfied customers and do our best to correct mistakes (which happen in any company).
We try to be 100% ....and will continue to be the best we can be. Our customer service is second to none.
Thanks to our loyal supporters.
By the way, new NX80 designs are in and selling very well.
