Hi,

I just bought NX70V PDA. I want to know if I have to buy only SONY Memory Stick for listening to Music or can I use CF cards. Is there any specification for the cards to be used?

How do I convert my musical files to MP3? Is there any specific Sampling rate to be followed?

I am a new user so I am not sure if this message is posted already (I tried to search for the info but could not succeed)

Thanks in Advance,
Kalyan

with MS without Magicgate, just put your constant MP3 bitrate into Palm/programs/MSaudio; I think that is the right directory....

I usually recompress my MP3 to 96Kb/sec to save space.

btw, with Magicgate, you can dump audio files to your MS using Atrac using the software included....whatever it was called. The Sony Atrac can store more songs onto a MS than mp3. However, I think Mp3 is good enough. Just my opinion.

mp and atrac3 sound the same unless you get really good headphones, then you notice a BIG difference. and then you'll probably want to use regular .cda files cause even mp3 will sound bad compared to cds, and if you buy a memory stick now, a mem stick pro does not support magic gate so i dont know how the 256 that comes with the new network walkman is supposed to work. sonys gonna lose my business if they don't hurry up and put a patch to support it, i dont' know what i'm going to do but sony wont' like it

Hi,

I am going to buy a memory stick, I was thinking in but a Magic Gate to save my songs in Atrac to save space, but I want to know if I also can store other media formats (photos, videos) and applications for my UX50 in the Magic Gate or I need to buy a plain Memory Stick...

Thank you in advance,
Jack

nope magic gate is a regular memory stick with an extra screw to tell the computer that it cost more and that the audio atrac3 file can be put on there, i used to buy magic gate because i just liked the white color, and now that its metallic orange i'm buying it too even though now i know it does more, and i can use that

Buy like a 128 or 256 Lexar MB stick, and a 512 MB or 1 GB CF card. Since you have the NX60/70, if you go to the CompactFlash forum and read the first post, I give clear cut instructions for getting the CF to work on the NX60/70/73/80 devices.

ok, reading this thread I'm now confused. I was about to buy a Sandisk 256mb memory stick pro magic gate, but I have doubts after reading your posts here. Can someone answer this simple question: once I have updated my nx70v to accept MS Pro, will it be able to read mp3s from the Sandisk MS I plan to buy?

oh, and while am at it and before I decide whether or not to get this MS, can someone sumarize the pros and cons of MS vs CF for the purpose of playing mp3 (trayip maybe?)

more or less the same deal on ebay or on online stores: MS Pro 256mb (sony or sandisk, lexar seems to have stopped its production of that item) go for about $80/90. Most online stores are out of stock though.

just wondering, is there a software "hack/crack" to put Atrac songs onto normal non-Magicgate memory sticks? I think it is possible and floating around in the internet. Just hard too find:rolleyes:

For Music CF and MS are the same....but CF is SOOOOO MUCH CHEAPER. You really just have to follow the instructions, however. Using Pelaca's hacked Audioplayer from the UX allows you to use the CF fully (it's freakin' awesome). But watching movies isn't perfect on an NX70. But music is 100% great! So get the CF (i have 128 mb lexar ms (40 bucks) and 512 MB Viking CF (90 bucks)). CF is SOOOO much cheaper than MS.
