Now that i have my NX70v all stacked with movies on the cf card i'm having problems with hearing them in loud ambient noise settings (on airplane) with the provided headphones.
Can someone recommend a headset to plug into the external remote that will increase the volume? I'd prefer not to spend 300 bucks on the bose "noise cancelling headphones" .
I did see this battery powered device that "amplified" the sound but cannot find it.
Thanks;
JP

How did you get video to work on the CF card on the NX?
Are you using the Eruware driver or the other one.
I have been looking all over for this info.
BTW, I have a little device that is a booster for headphones called Boosteroo. www.boosteroo.com $25 online.
Thanks, Jay

I used the "modified" cf driver from Pelaca (amazing) to play Image Converter movies. I use a mac so this is with virtual pc. i also installed the "modified" movie player only, but plan to intall the rest soon. works like a charm! check out the compact flash forum and download the new drivers. It also works great with jpegshow to view images off the cf card from my digital camera.
thanks for the link, i'll check it out.

I have tried the links and don't really get answers.
Do you have a specific link or details?
Sorry to be a bother but this is for my business to be able to preview video to clients that I create for them. I am out of MS room.
Thanks, Jay

http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24712
will explain the basics in great detail
i just updated all my drivers, ESPECIALLY ms pro update via sony web site prior to installing the cf driver
http://ciscdb.sel.sony.com/cgi-bin/swu-index.pl
go to
http://snow.prohosting.com/cfutil/
download the cf utility for mac or windows
install the driver (i did not install the cf modem drivers as i have no need for them)
Install the movie player from
http://snow.prohosting.com/cfutil/
soft reset after installing all this and then create a folder on cf card
MQ_ROOT
inside this place folder
100MQV01
inside this place movies from imageconverter
hope this helps!

If it works it will.
One more question:
OK 2 more, are you using Eruware?
Do I have to uninstall it from my NX before I try the other stuff?
I have followed the first thread you gave and downloaded all the files but that is as far as I got due to the warnings. I want clarification before I screw with this.
Thanks for the reply, will let you know if it works.
Thanks, Jay

Jay,
i do not have or have used the euware driver. It has been recommended that you MUST uninstall this before installing the modified drivers above.
i started with the basic nx70, nothing special added except the cf wireless driver (which you don't need unless using the wifi card) and installed the mspro update, modified cf driver, then the modified movieplayer.
the only thing in not installing the modified camera app is that i have to take the cf card out to record a photo or movie with the camera or it crashes the camera app. this is not a big deal for me, as i only have the cf card in when watching a movie. I usually have the wifi card in the cf spot.
One more thing, make sure you back up your data to your memory stick using the ms backup app prior to doing all this so if it all bombs, you can just reinstall your stuff.

as for playing mpeg on the nx70 (your other post) i tried but was unsuccessful. Why not use the image converter app to make a mqv file? files are smaller.

I fly a lot and watch movies regularly on my Clie. When I first got my Clie and began converting movies, I too experienced your problem with not hearing the audio because the airplane "hum" was too loud.
Here's an easy and cheap (free) solution to this problem. Get a program called TMPGEnc to convert your videos to MPEG-1. This is an awesome program, and it's freeware too!
Before you convert, go to the Audio Effects setting and bump your audio to 400%. It doesn't seem like 4X volume, but it's definitely louder. After conversion, the audio still sounds good (i.e. no popping, cracking, hissing, etc.).
I then use Image Converter to convert the MPG to Movie Player format.
Now on airplanes, I can hear the audio clearly, even at the back of the plane where it's usually louder.
And BTW, I am using a cheap $5 set of ear buds.
Good luck!

Back to your original question:
The Sony EX51SL or EX71SL earbuds are as close to earplug/headphone combination as I have ever heard. I tried numerous different styles, because when my commuter train traveled through tunnels while turning, there is a loud, high pitched squeal that was amplified by my regular Sony earbuds, also by my Sony 'studio' style headphones, but somewhere else in these forums, I caught a reference to the aforementioned EX71SL's. At Good Guys, they have both 51's and 71's. Both look identical, with the 71's having more accessories. I work graveyard, and sleep during the day. Now I have "earplugs that play an alarm, too!"
With the added noise attenuation and GREATLY improved bass response, I think you might not need an increase in volume.
Hope this helps.
