Hey everyone, I was one of the poor people that was having a major problem with batteries on my NZ-90, everytime I went to press the camera program my battery power would drop about 30% and you can actually see the power drain even without taking any shots.
My machine was 2nd hand and it was odd because the previous owner used the machine 7 times and sold it. I suspect it was because of this battery problem. What is the use of the NZ-90 without the flash and camera!!!
It turned out to be a defective battery. I just bought a new one and I can take 50+ shots with flash no problem now.
Fustration gone. Great machine now.
BTW the patch didn't help with the problem for those who are sure to comment. I had the patch the moment it came out.
Hope this helps those with this problem. I suspect new machines bought now probably don't have this problem anymore.

I want to buy a new battery, but is it possible to know when the batteries were made or if they've been sitting around on the shelf for a long time, part of the original batch of 'bad' batteries?
Most stores no longer have NZ90's OR their accessories in stock anymore... I'm leary of buying a BP500 off eBay, as I may be buying someone elses' problem.

As far as I can tell anything folowing 33xxx works and 30xxx & 31xxx seems bad but there is limited data on this.

We need to get everyone's data on this in order to make a good choice on what battery to get?
I will post a new thread on this issue and see if we can compile data that makes sense?

If we get enough data on these batteries and narrow down the culprit "Bad" batteries and what I mean by "enough" is at least 100 reported "Bad" and email Sony at the same time ,we need these guys to see one email after another to the same Sony email address about a bad battery, it kind of psychological lets say you were working for a manufacture and got one complaint a month,” You would bring it up in end of month meeting", now lets say that you get a hundred in a day, "You would have an emergency meeting before you get a 1000 or 10,000 it is how it works in a production environment.
So you have to document and plan your case if you are to be reimburse from a defective product.

Can't we get the Better Business Bureau or something to force Sony into a recall of all the bad batteries? That way we could all solve the problem for no$$.

Garfink, now that you have had your battery for a few months now, is the battery still giving you 50 plus shots. . .
Just Curious
Errr... the only problem there ever was, were a batch of faulty batteries, new batteries solve the problem completely

Hy everybody!
I´m a brasilian's NZ user, and like most af all users, I'm suffering the problems with my battery using the cam ap (1 photo with flash, batery 100%). But, today, I had a strange behavior form my NZ: I recharged it, for few hours, like every day, and as soon it displays full, I took it off the craddle and imediatly started to shoot with teh cam (1600X1072 STD backlight minimum, flash forced on) and I had the amazing mark of 28 photos no stop, battery 50% (after out the cam ap, 87%). So, I'm having strong thoughts, that's its not a excessive energy consume of the cam ap, but a saving the energy charge's problem.
Sorry my poor English

Boa dia!
Voce anglais etsa muinto bein, meu Portuguese esta muinto mal...
Nevertheless, you're exactly right. If one reads all the threads, the best we've been able to come up with is not the ability of the BP-500 battery to HOLD a charge, but rather the ability of the firmware to CORRECTLY report the remaining charge.
Extra batteries are a big help.
Boa tarde!
Tony
