Had Netfront on NR. Upgraded to NX. Have not been able to get netfront to work. I see it in the clie files list. It is not in the launcher or menu views. Will not execute.

Tried resetting and reloading clie. No Luck.

Need Help.

You must have a min of 6MB free for it to appear in the Launcher. This has been noted before.

so you are saying if i had 4mbs free in ram, i cannot get it to launch???

No, you just need 6 mb free to install. The finished install is 2+ mb

then do i need to have a minimum amount of free ram to launch it?

that depends on what size cache you set. I have about 2.7 mb free, and use a 1.5 mb cache

alright
thanks for your instant reply, cuz i was also considering to buy a WiFi card for my NX, now that i know i dont need to have 6mbs free to run it, ill definitely buy one now

Thanks again

hm... so like if a page's size is over the cache size, it wouldnt load? i wonder what would be a good amount of cache, I understand that this is a very obvious question. But RAM is too precious on my NX, i cant afford to free up too much

Whether you have the max cache set or not some pages will not load bc netfront says they are too big. It dosen't make sense when others load that are twice as big but I guess its just a flaw in the program.

Some now use PowerRun v1.2 to load Net Front from the memory stick. I am a bonified Net Front hater for a mutlitutde of reasons. Some have had better luck with the 'page to large errors' by setting the cache to zero.

So are you saying other browsers like TT's Webpro or Handspring's Blazer would work better with NX? If the max cache size doesnt have direct relation witht he max page size netfront can load, what would you recommend for me to set it to? 1.5mbs??

oh and also, is www.hotmail.com and cliesource.com more than 1.5mbs??

Most have to set the cache size to ZERO!!! Then you might have to kill all the other options, but some say they still love it??? Whether the other browsers work better, all depends on your use. For me, IMHO, they're light years better.

This doesnt really make sense to me, if cache size is set to zero, then doesnt it mean that browsing with net front will need insane amount of free ram? my device only has 2.3 mbs left right now, would it be enough for surfing?

sorry i really have to make sure these things before i order my WiFi card

Yes, that should be enough RAM, don't try to make sense of Net Front, one of the reasons why I despise it. Sad to say, Net Front has issues. I use other browsers, they have both their good and bad points.

There is PocketLink, WebProV, Blazer, Xiino, and others that can be used as browsers. Net Front is fraught with "page too large errors" with no rhyme or reason, but setting the cache size improves on the errors. The cache would just occupy more of your RAM anyway.

As Larry has noted, not everyone has had the same bad experiences with NetFront that he has - I rarely get page too large errors, though I mostly surf PDA-friendly sites. It's also worth noting that most of the other options rely on proxy servers to convert the web pages on the fly to versions that their browser can deal with. This means that a.)they won't work on intranets, and b.)they have a record of all your web surfing (not that anyone is really going to pore through log files . . .)

netfront wokrs ok. hopefully the 3.0 update that comes w/the nz90 will be better. webpro works really well but its smaller vieiwng area so tis a toss up between the two in terms of features and functionality.
