View Full Version : What's On Your UX?

I just moved from the PPC back to Palm, and while I used to be a PalmGear addict, I haven't followed any developments since the Palm OS4 was released. So far I've only added a few programs:

Docs 2 Go (office suite) $$
Brainforest (task planner) $
CRS Launcher (tabbed launcher) free
Noah Lite (dictionary) free
Fonts4UX (fonts, duh, for the UX) $
Avantgo (news reader) free
PilotGo (go game) free
CodeDiver (widescreen utility) $

So what has everyone else put on their UX? I don't mean just the wide format stuff, I mean all those great little utilities and whatnot.

BTW does hackmaster or similar work on OS5? I used to have all sorts of good hacks but now I can't remember any of them...

This is going to be the thread of the long posts, it can be predicted.

Currently:
Main Memory (obviously excluding the default Clie apps)
-Agendus Pro (w/mail) (mapped to the datebook button, cycles through all modes and checks SMS messages)
-BTToggle: Set-up to toggle BT status with the Mail hard button
-DAL Launcher
-Documents to go 6
-HRCaptDM (mapped as a DA to DALauncher)
-McFile (found among the forums as a better file manager, able to send files via Bluetooth, a basic and must if you have MacOSX
-ScummVM
-SmbMate (and I currently can't connect to my mac with it)
-telnet
-TGSsh
-Uninstall Manager (just about to be trashed, as it insists on not working properly.

Internal Media:
-3D Hockey
-Bejeweled
-Chain Reaction
-La femme (ahem)
-Palm Reader
-PDA SafeID
-Scrabble
-Table Tennis
-Warfare Inc.

As files:
-The first ten books of the Destroyer (Remo Williams) series
-The first four Harry Potter books (which I have yet to read but since there aren't any new Discworld novels I have to read SOMETHING).
-Two flash files, three MP3s, 5 games for SCUMM, lots of pics.

Perished:
-Lots of games
-Datebk
-Allmoney, Alltime, Lemonade Tycoon, Micro Racers, Olympiads (or however that screen scratchr is called), two time trackers
-Project@hand
-FunSMS
-CodeDiver (Great idea, useless for me, not worth the quirkiness)
-Worldmate: NO need for it
-Avantgo: No mac client
-Billiardz (one of them): Didn't work in landscape, insisted in "portraiting" the pool table. Awful
-Bowling: Cool, yet too big

As I spend most of the time either reading, taking pictures (I'm leaving this town for good in two months, so I'm documenting it around) and using Agendus, I have no need for a launcher. Tried facer for a while but it insisted in resetting the UX50 (I currently have a problem with the UX50 being resetted every so often, most commonly when I switch from Agendus SMS Mail to anything else).

I have customized the hell out of Agendus Pro, tho'

eduo

BTW, I have run DocsToGo and Warfare form the Memory Stick and from the internal media without worrying about it and they worked. No Power Run or anything.

Well, I guess I used Power Run before ZLauncher, so...
In fact Power Run takes all files related to a program (databases...) and put it into a separate folder on the MS (or VMS), delete the files in RAM and creates a shortcut in RAM.
When you click on the shortcut, Power Run just copies all files in RAM and executes the program.
When the program ends, Power Run copy the program / databases back to the MS / VMS and delete the files from RAM.
To be honest, I don't know how Zlaucher is working on this one... I should give it a try...
The thing I like with Power Run is that it is clear, simple, effective...

Doc to go is a bit different, you can put files on PALM/PROGRAM/LAUNCHER directly, only the doc to go launcher remains in RAM...

So in fact, first you install the software in RAM, then you move it on MS with Power RUN.
Some apps require to be in RAM to work well... Power Run is really usefull in those cases (for example running Picsel Viewer on a NX70V ;) )...

For billards I guess they released the final version no?
I got a beta I tested a while ago ;)
There was a post in UX forums...

Smeg: I really liked App #31.

Is there any better rummy than the only one I have found around (Black & White)? I'd love something like romi for Windows/Mac, which would fit perfectly in the UX50, too.

You have several applications that do the same thing (like we pro and netfront), are you evaluating? Could you get rid of the ANNOYING popup in Web Pro? Does it not reset your UX50 from time to time?

I am using a color rummy that works very well however I'm not sure which one it is since I'm at work. I try to remember to look when I get home.

lmame: THAT popup. Yes. I get it all the time. I got sick of that and pages not being drawn properly. What's the advantage everyone sees in Web Pro that I am missing.

True, it renders faster, but then again mangles a LOT of the HTML code as well, doesn't support Flash, CSS or Javascript (at least not in the places I checked) and didn't work in most of the sites I frequently visit.

I'd like for it to support popup windows or, at least, a mixture of popup windows and tabs (where popups are sent to tabs as well as other pages).

I just switched from Easy Address (nice but slow) to Contact Pro - it does look for the string I type in all the useful fields, and it it even better than Easy Address since it will automatically switch to the detail view once you type enough chars to select only one record. It has other nice features too...
