Any overclock program that works with T665? If you experience success with AB, can you share your settings?

Thanks so much....

I don't know of anyone that uses afterburner on a T665, it already runs at 66 mhz, which I believe is the upper register of afterburner, so there's really no point. If you want to overclock, try fastcpu 3.0, it goes all the way to 99mhz.

Thanks for prompt responses!

I tried FastCPU and it works...but the program is so FAT. :-(

pbhulipo, could you share your settings for FastCPU on your T665? I loaded it awhile back but never tried it, as most people here found that it crashed their machine. Thanks!

I have to check again, because I only tested it briefly and nuked it. I'll let you know....

FCPU v.3.0(sz). Installed and activated with all apps set to normal. Once activated, I set the built-in apps to 33 mhz, and several database and/or MS intensive apps to 82 mhz, all using "custom". Majority of apps are left at 66. I do not notice very much difference between 66 and 82, but no resets after 3 weeks. hope this helps.

Just for fun I tried setting my T665 to the highest possible setting, 99 mhz. It ended up in a hard reset. I think Fastcpu is a waste of money for the T665 but very useful for a 33 mhz Clie.

Same here. What I liked about AB (and the reason I tried it on my T665) was the ability to change wait states, pageing, etc. I would like to see if these types of speed imporvements can be done for the 66MHz processor rather than just overclocking.

Anyboby have the registered code for the FastCPU.

No. Others may have less kind words for you.

I will assume you ask a ligitimate question.

You can get registration code at

http://www.megasoft2000.com/palm_division/fastcpu.htm

Just click on the BUY link. They accept credit card. If you are too young, ask mom. :p

Fast CPU is nice, it makes my SJ30 bearable (OC to 66MHz).

And lightspeed for my NX70 at 350MHz :D

FASTCPU works in some cirumstances. Here is what I found.

My T675 runs at 92MHz with Fast CPU. I had a hardcrash at the start when I didn't wait long enough for the soft recovery. I have not found this problem since.

I find 2 problems.

1. Occaisionally when exiting or starting a process the machine freezes. A soft reset sorts this
2. The SuperVZ is less stable with a serial Sync to Windows NT anyway (I had a VZ before). It is definitely worse with FASTCPU running even if the PDA is left at the normal CPU speed. I set the PC to Hardware flow and the speed to 56 and this is reasonably reliable

For programs like JPEGWATCH (until the next high-speed release) this is a big bonus

i wonder if the overclockability of my t655c will be limited by actual hardware (i.e. high latency RAM), or is it a cooling issue? If it's more directly related to cooling, I've got some slick ideas...

The overclocking is related to the CPU and the surrounding hardware bus. Considering that you are pushing a 66Mhz processor to 99Mhz - this is at 150% the nominal speed.

(Just like the T615, where a 33Mhz processor is maxed out at 55Mhz - again, it is 150% nominal speed).

Most CPUs can be safely pushed to a certain point before the CPU or the surrounding hardware busses start playing up due to clock mismatching and glitches in the data.

The issue of cooling has never been an issue for these devices.
