Can anyone confirm or deny that the Clie NZ90 will be able to use the new Memory Stick Pro cards?? Specifically the larger capacity cards...not the split capacity cards.

Any and all info would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Helps a lot, Ark...:)

I'm looking at spending close to a grand to move from my Tungsten T back to a Clie...and can't make up my mind between the NX70V and the NZ90...

If the neither supported the Mem Stick Pro - then I'd go for the lesser knowing I'd upgrade again in a few months...but since both, I'm back in a quandry...:)

Same speed, same RAM, same OS (sad they didn't take the opportunity to apply 5.1, which all resellers are supposed to already have), same MP3, same screen....only differences are the improved keyboard, improved camera, and Bluetooth.

Palm's implementation of the Bluetooth in OS5/Tungsten T is much less functional than those people who used a BT SD card...you have to jump through all sorts of hoops to get it to talk with a PC, and then 90% of the time I use it to piggy back onto the internet...which the WiFi slot will do anyway...

If anyone knows if they've fixed the Bluetooth issues the T|T has on the Sony's, please advise! :)

The only problem with MSPro is the exact pricing isn't known, and if it is competitivly priced with SD cards then I don't see why using it.

well the desicion is up to you. I loved my nx70 but I wanted the better camera so i sold it on ebay and am ordering the nz90. Its basically, do u want to pay 100 or 200 more in some cases for a better camera, better keyboard, better functions in the cradle, removable battery, and bluetooth. As for T1000X the prices annoucned are 800 412 and 210 respectivly to the 1gb, 512mb, and 256mb. For now I'll just be buying a lot of 128mb ms bc the price has dropped due to the announcment of the ms pro. Buy.com actually has a really good deal now and you cna sue 2 rebates per houshold. Hope that wasn't too much info

I could justify the NZ90 if it had a $750 or less price, but for $800 you can get an SJ33 ($300) and a 2MP digital camera ($200) and have $300 or more left over for accesories and programs. As for the MSPro prices, compared to SD cards they are a bit high. On sale you can get a 256MB card for $170 or less sometimes. Media prices, lack of OS support and other reasons are again pushing me away from Sony. I will forever be using a PalmOS device, but my next one may not be a Sony.

it does have a less then 750 price tag form many online sites. datavision has it listed for 699. as for the ms pro they will coem down in price and the memory stick select which is 256mb will be 150. If you need to know all of the cheap websites go to the release date post.

There's no doubt about it. I was told by the head of press relations for Sony in the U.S. that a patch would be available that would allow the NZ90 and NX series to use Memory Stick Pro.

BTW, the split capacity cards aren't part of the Memory Stick PRO line. They are called Memory Stick with Memory Select Function. No patches or anything will be required for them and they will work in any Clie.

THe only thing thats annyong about the ms select is that if your say using it for mp3's you will ahve tot ake it out and clip the switch in order to listen to the other 128mbs.

Well, unless you use the Sony ATRAC3 format for your mp3's (like I do), you can keep buying the good 'ol 128Mb memory sticks that are made by other folks like Lexar and San Disk until they stop producing them.

So given that, why would you even care about the switch-flipping aspect of these newer sticks (not the Pro's) that nobody even has yet?

Thanks for the info! and the picture!!!

I think I'm going with the NZ90...just because I know myself...if there's a better unit out there, and I don't buy it, I'll be looking at it with envy forever...LOL It's a heckuva lifestyle, but such is life.

I'm confident I'll be able to pick it up for 700$ or so...and since it will eventually support a 1gb MS Pro, I don't have to worry about it being obsoleted by Sony immediately. Granted, I'll likely run out and buy the first PalmOS PDA that supercedes the NZ90...but it's a habit I know about and can afford...:)

One thing I do know - and that is that the PPCs will have to wait until PPC2004 before Microsoft will address writing the OS Strongarm compliant...until then, those devices will likely be limited to 240x320, and even their 400mhz procs will run some things slower than their 200mhz counterparts.

I'm not pro/con the PPCs...just my honest experience with an iPaq 3900...and any device that takes 4-5 seconds just to search for an address is a step backwards from the 16mhz PalmOS devices...

Thank you for your interest in the Sony PEG-NZ90 CLIE.

The PEG-NZ90 is compatible with the 1GB Memory Sticks. Software like dictionaries can be stored on all memory sticks. Applications can also be run from the memory stick

well they have improved the speed of the ms pro so that you should be able to read/write to the new sticks faster. Theres also some security feature that they haven't elaborated on yet. If you go to the sony inform site theres a demo of the new format.

I understand the speed issue.

I'm also thinking that for basic needs, getting cheapie (like SanDisk 128MB Memory Sticks with a 1 year Warranty for $63.99 shipped, from the Digi4me.com website) might suffice for a while as speed issues get resolved and prices on the big ones drop.

Just waiting for the NZ90 to come out with English OS...
