SJ33 alarm volume

Is there anyone else that thinks the alarm volume is too low? Am I missing something? I can barely hear it when my CLIE is in my pocket.

The alarm is too quiet! It is the same on my SJ20. What I do to help me hear the alarm is to always face the back of my Clie away from my body when I place it in my pocket. That allows what little sound there is to get through the fabric of my pants. It's not a perfect fix, but it does help.

I don't always keep my SJ20 in a case, but when I do; my Krussel leather case has a cutout on the back for the sound to come through. Very insightful...

Not for me, it's the loudest alarm I've ever had on a Palm OS device. Do you have it turned all the way up in preferences ? Also do you use one of the longer sounds which are more noticeable ?

What other Palm's have you had?  I had a Palm Pro, a IIIx, and a IIIxe.  All of them were *much* louder than my SJ20... even after I hand-picked the loudest (and long-playing) alarm sound file I could find.  The default sounds were hopeless.  Volume is set to max [except for games]  ;-)

I just got rid of my palm m515. It was much louder than my CLIE. I still love it though!

Umm the original poster was asking about the SJ33 not the SJ20. (check the subject line!!!) I don't know if you've used one but it's sound is totally different from many other Palm devices, it's polyphonic for one & it's also much louder than other Clie's & other Palm OS devices as well.

My SJ33 has a very effective alarm. I keep it in my pocket, with the back facing out. I have a wake up alarm in the morning, and at least two other alarms throughout the day. My TunstenT is by far the audio bomb for handhelds. I listen to mp3's via its built in speaker more than I use headphones. The Tungsten also has a vibrating alarm which I wish the SJ33 had implemented.
