I admitt this would be great having a PDA, which was capable of both, so you could leave your charger at home.

In this day and age, a AAA-powered model would be impratical. Especially with the new rechargable battery technologies coming out, and power-hungry color screens and processors. Personally, I prefer rechargable because its more convienent and saves me more money

I absolutely agree to that. But many of the Cliesource members are more often on the run, than at theird desks. And the battery drains fast. So a mixture would be fine..

I use a battery charger when in class and need to charge on the go.

i'd like to have AAA slot also .. sometime i forgot my charger at home ..
