I was at compusa today, and heard one of the "experts" say
"these are the pocket pc's, and here are the palms, the newest one is the tungsten E"
And the TT3 was right next to it!

uh...ok...
Well...the T|E is the newest, and so is the T|T3, so what he said was right...he just probably was talkin' to someone who was shoping for a cheap priced PDA...

At least he didn't call them "Palm Pilots"... I've heard sales people do that... makes me cringe.

I know what you mean. No matter how many times I tell my family and friends that I have a "Clie" they still will not stop calling it a Palm Pilot. Geez!!!

I don't even bother with Clie. I tell people it's a palm, they stare at me blankly, and then I say it's a palm pilot. then most get it. usually they understand that; if not they ask if its a calculator.

Why not just call it a pda, that covers most of it.

Yeah I was telling this guy at work that I keep my pictures on my clie now and he looked at me like I was on crack. Then I just said PDA and his eye stopped crossing.

One of the guys at the PDA counter at the Best Buy I go to all the time, when ever he sees me in that section, just asks me when there is a question he can't answer. What does he do when I am not there?

Strangely,
No one in my family or my immediate friends know what a PDA is. Some call it a "Palm Pilot", some call it a "Computer". My Dad keeps calling it a "PBA". I give him an A for effort, though.
What's odd is that all of them have seen them multiple times in TV shows, Commercials, and movies. I know, because I've seen the same TV shows, commercials, and movies that they have. Maybe I just notice it because I love them. But they've also all played with my PDAs when we're at restaraunts or movie theaters, etc, and some of them even OWN one. My Dad has my old Palm IIIxe and my Mom has my old Casio E105. Yet my Dad hasn't used his IIIxe in forever because he kept forgetting that it runs on BATTERIES, and I think my Mom spilled 7up on her Casio ...
What really shocked me, though, is when the newest staff member of my company's IS/Help Desk department was walking by and said "Whoa! Color!".
I bookmarked Monster.com on that day ....

Most of the time, I go with the flow and call it a Palm Pilot. If I feel like being a little ornery, I say, "Oh, it's not quite a Palm Pilot, it's much better. It's a Sony. See? Color and and everything."

My avatar is samus, or my alternate personality (like zelda's man-sheik thang).
:D
lol
People are like "lemme hold yo palm pilot"
or "what is that?" and I say "a computer".
It's a computer people. Just leave it at that. If people ask what kind then say palm or clie.

When I bought my SJ33, the Radio Shack teeny-bopper didn't even know that you could use MS with it. He said he would give me one of those when I picked up the SJ...and he did. He just gave me a brand new 64 MB MS and told me if to "bring it back if it doesn't work."
It's still working!

I try to stick the word "Palm" somewhere in there... because people with limited knowledge of PDA's often think it runs PPC... Of course if the only thing I had associated with PalmOS was the Vx, then I would mistake a Clie for a PPC too.

LOL - I think thats what I`ll start calling mine.
I`ve finally managned my missus to stop calling mine a palm ('that was what I had last year huney') and to start calling it a Sony at least.

I call it a palm. Noone knows what the hell a Clie is, and it sounds pretentious to boot.
