So far seems pretty stable, I do wish the screen was a LITTLE bit bigger though...

I'm suprised this isn't geting more hits. Gamesaves are great, especially on long games like Mario3

Is the NESemulator really good? I tried to the demo but you really are limited to what you can test out. I also just ordered the GC10 controller since it was so cheap, so I'll see how that goes.

Read my review of it at PDArcade if you wanna find out...in all I loved the emu and will soon update the review to 1.3 (once it isout of beta).

Ummm, apparently they have taken this down as the link does not work. Maybe it's temporary and will go back up, I hope....

Sadly, no, it doesnt support mike tyson punch out as yet... But the game save sure rocks! first day i got my hands on version 1.3beta, all i could do was play mario 3. it sure is a great emulator.

I've only played the crippleware version and so far it has not justified paying $20, especially when some of my favorite games aren't supported yet =*(
If you're really into emulation, you have to check out dreamcast. The nintendo emulator (called nester) for dreamcast plays thousands of games, it's really nice. www.dcemulation.com is the best website for that kinda stuff.... I know this isn't palm related, but figured I'd throw that in there =)

What they should do is map save to a hard button as well as load. And have a menu screen to chose different slots. Its a b*tch to open up my nx70 or pull off the controller just to enter a filename.

One tip: remap the jog push in to be the start button and the back button to be select.
Now no more tapping on the screen!
does anyone know if NESEM is compatible with OS4?
its not...it specifically requires os5 and the processing power of at least 100 mhz (from what I remember)..
tho you might be able to OC the NR70V to almost 100mhz (wouldnt recommend it tho)..it still needs OS5...
sorry wldc.

mine is all right...*scratch scratch*..wait..mine is still beta..hmm..maybe i shoudl keep it that way
UNLESS..does it play Punch Out?

total bummer news...since i got that nice controller at COMP-U-Plus i wanted to get some games for my long trip...
but if NESEM is only compatible for OS5 i'm gonna be out of luck... cuz i'm still using my little SJ30 thats running on OS4 :(

if you want roms, send me a PM!
Also, anyone with a UX try it?
I downloaded the trial version for my UX and the program started, but I didn't try any games yet as they are all on my MS and the trial does not allow for VFS games.
I emailed the developers about giving me a new code since I already registered the product but they said it wasn't going to work on my UX.

If you want to play it in full speed with high quility sound
Do a safe reset (press Up + reset) before you run NesEm
I tried that, the speed is faster then the game supposed to be
and the sound is good too

Dont think they will be able to fully support Punchout, that is a tough one. They have done an admirable job but I will stick to my GBA SP and PocketNES which plays 99% of the roms I have tried with 100% accuracy, perfect speed and perfect sound.

Question!
I thought the Nesem supported naitive .nes images from the memory card. Do the .nes files have to be in a specific directory?
(Or am I horribly, horribly off?)
GrantMaster
10-31-2003, 08:39 PM
uh... never mind. NesEM created the directory for me.
yes..they have to be in a specfic directory...you have to make a folder called NESEM within the Palm folder I believe.
anyone want to field this?...my palm i left..*ACK...at work!*

Nesem does support native nes files. You put them into the Nesem Folder of your memory stick and you're good to go!
BTW I tried Nesem on my UX50 and it works! change the keyboard up/down buttons to up and down, and use the back, and 3 hardkey buttons for: Left, Right, A, B.
Well it looks like the only playable game is Pacman! the button configuration is too crazy!
