I was trying to somehow get rid of this obnoxious printme application that adobe reader installed on my SJ33. Using Filez, I tried unmarking it as a resourcedb, and foolishly said I wanted to do it in spite of the warnings.

Fatal exception. Reset.

Ok. Only on coming back, it wanted another reset. This time I tried a warm reset. Ok, it's back. In low res. LauncherX looks histerical. I try exiting the launcher.

Fatal exception. Reset.

Now, I can warm reset it and it opens to Preferences. But since McFling is not working, and the basic launcher seems to be screwed up, I can't run anything else. Just keep needing to warm reset it.

I REALLY don't want to have to hard reset it, as I've been putting off getting a backup program (I'm SO stupid!)

Any advice?

It gets worse. I tried clicking another item in the preferences menu, and suddenly it wants a reset every time I warm reset. I assume this means I'll have to hard reset? Any tips on recovery after a hard reset?

Ok, gets worse. Hard reset. Hotsynced; tried to exit to LauncherX. Fatal exception. Ended up having to hard reset AGAIN!! Any tips on how to fix this? Maybe I need to find someway to not run LauncherX after HotSyncing.

Currently my Clie is hard-reset and blank and new. When I hotsync stuff over, it forces me to reset. After a reset, when I click home, it launches LauncherX and immediately demands a reset. When I reset, no luck. So it seems I can't reinstall anything. Any advice on this? This is the most goddamn aggravating thing I have ever had happen with a palm.

Moral? When Filez tells you something's dangerous, you DAMN WELL LISTEN!!

I'd suggest using MSBackup (Comes preinstalled on your CLIE) It's totally 100% Reliable, And can save you lots of time after a hard reset

When you do a sync after a hard reset, all the old stuff, also the corrupt ones, will come back on your Clie. That's why it keeps crashing.

Go to your hotsync backup folder (c:\program file's\Sony handheld\USER NAME\backup) and rename the backup directory. Perform a hard reset. Now you have a clean device again. Copy all stuff you want back to the new backup directory. Perform a sync.

Working like a charm again.

I had a similar problem trying to get rid of PrintMe. I was using ZLauncher and trying to delete it through the file manager program. I saw a thread a while back suggesting that it was only a problem when you try to delete the PrintMe using a 3rd party launcher, so I tried using the regular Palm launcher and it deleted fine.
