i noticed quite a few of you put down bar code scanner as extra features for the clie

I know a guy who used his CueCat barcode scanner that came w/ his Wired magazine subscription to catalog all his CD's....

Other than that, it sounds like functionality present in handheld devices from Symbol - usually used to track items in a warehouse and the like. Personally, I wouldn't trust my Clie in a warehouse; the Symbol devices are much more rugged.
