I'd love to get the TJ and use it to watch movies on the go -- it appears that this unit doesn't have a DSP chip for audio/video because of Aeroplayer and the lack of Movie Player. Does anyone have any practical experience with the 200 MHz processor in this unit? I wonder if it can render decent video (i.e., standard quality in Movie Player) using a 3rd party movie player (Kinoma, etc.)
It would be fantastic if it can play movies at an acceptable resolution/fps!

I'm not sure which TJ are you using. But if you can get a version of TJ-37's Kinoma Player (w/MQV QuickTime MPEG-4 codec), then you can use ImageConverter to convert videos to MQV and play in your TJ using Kinoma Player, likes other CLIEs can play video using MoviePlayer.
Well, you'd have to resize the movie to 320x320 more or less because the TJ series only supports up to that resolution. Either your movie would be cut off if its too big or it'll be too tiny if its too small. Theres a complete movie converting thread in the Applications < Videos forums in 1src. Trust me, once you get it into such a small resolution, you wont get much lag while playing it. The TJ's work equally as well and maybe even better than the older CLIE's with the chips.
Acceptable 3rd party programs for viewing movies are:
www.MMPLAYER.com
www.KINOMA.com
www.PQDVD.com
NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A MEMORY STICK TO VIEW VIDEOS! THIS IS UNLESS YOU HAVE KINOMA PRODUCER AND A SMALL VIDEO IN WHICH YOU CAN TRANSFER OVER TO THE RAM!
