Hey all!

First post around here, been checking this site since yesterday and it seems to be the Best one around for clie owners...

Now to the point..
I recently got an NR70V/U and it was working great. I got a SanDisk 128 stick and was using it first for mp3s then for files...

The thing is, that now, for no reason, The clie isn't loading my MS. When I insert it, it just blinks once. Then nothing. Sometimes, it does mount. I'm not sure if this has it makes any effect but it seems like when i apply pressure around the MS slot are on the back it seems to work well, for a while...
When it doesn't load, however, it shows up that there's a card on but with no other info. I can't rename or format it.

It DOES work on my memory card reader, which i have been using since i got the clie and ms...

To me it seems like this clie has a problem, and not the card.

Any help?
Oh, by the way, how do you do a hard reset? maybe that would help....

Thanks for all in advance
Alfredo

This is a known defect with the NR70. You can have sony look at it and fix it or you can search the forums here for "the paper trick" which I think I'll be trying soon enough.

arrgghh.... Thanks for the quick reply....

Lucky me, I have to leave us on friday, so i will try to check tomorrow first with best buy where i bought it to see if they can change it or something... If not i guess I'll depend on sony's warranty in Panama...

I will search for that paper trick tho and post back....

Thanks again for your help!

Ok... well for the moment i got it to work with that bending post on the paper trick thread. I really would prefer to send it to sony or try to exchange it in best buy before opening it up and maybe breaking it heh...

Curious thing is that i feel they made this clie pda kind of toyish because this clie is an exchange from a display one i got on another Best Buy. That one had scratches everywhere! and it made this squeek sound (or however you spell that) and it could be in the open style... Both problems seem to be quite common to users around these forum.

I do however really love this pda, its a big step from a clie n760c i had some weeks ago, and even BIGGER step from a palm m105 i had after knowing with the newton that i want a pda =)

Well, i know, long post... Just writing my thoughts about clies..

Hope to get this working well soon, im really hoping to watch kinoma movies on the plane to Panama =)

see ya all,
Alfredo

Hi Desee, nice to see you here!

Well the two NR70 problems known so far is that of the screeching sound when opeing the clam shell and that of the memorystick problem.

The screeching sound can be solved by carefully applyinh some W4D solution to the hinge.

And the memory stick part...
The problem seems to be caused by frequent usage of the slot which already has known design defects.
So my solution to this, or prevention measure is to use a 128 MS so that I would not have to remove and insert MS so often as 128 MB is enough for all my database and MP3 needs.

Zoinks, do not use WD40, refer to the squeeky hinge thread that's already in the NR forum, I believe they reccommend silicon based lube. As for the memory stick, either do the paper trick (not nearly as complicated as it sounds) or send it back to Sony.
