Hi all,

I am travelling often abroad for my job (mainly to Mexico) , I am willing to use a GPS to drive in this country.

Before buying an unit, I have investigated the net and have found a wide market but I can not make a choice and I have still some questions :

1°) I wish to use a compactflash GPS card to avoid the multiplication of item : In your opinion, which card seems to be best ?

2°) I have not found software map for the country of Mexico ? Is there anyone know where I can find it ?

3°) What is the most suitable software ? idea of the cost ?

3°) As I do not know how it does work, is it possible to simply use a standards digitize map ?

On the french site of SONY thera ar no indications of adaptable system or shoud I say, I could not find them ....

Thanks in advance for your keen answers and advices.

Avoid the multiplication of an item... maybe look at on eof the bluetooth GPS receivers, then you can use it with anythign with bluetooth tranceiver (laptop, NZ90....) and it doesn't stick out the bottom of the NZ90 and drain it's batteries.

Just a thought for you...

As for your other questions, can't help I'm afriad.

As fior the maps, I doubt if you find many digitized and detailed maps for cityies in Mexico. There are some software maps of main highways as far as I know. Have you checked Garmin's website. You can export their maps to other formats if you have to. But you have to buy their CD.

Alternatively, you can become GIS expert and digitize your own maps as I do:)

There is no GPS CF card that I am aware of, is there?

All sorts of CF gps cards... None that currently work in the NZ...or Nx's for that matter. Thanx, Sony.

- no CF gps cards work on clies (no drivers)

- bluetooth gps are quite popular, and they are not device specific (e.g., they work on ppc, palm, even laptop). checkout www.gpspassion.com

- you can also buy a gps serial cable, connecting your nz90 to a standalone gps unit

- if you are using in a car - you can also buy a car mount. check out semsons.com or arkon or seido

- there are several vector mapping programs, which allow you to use any scanned map, then calibrate. i use gpsatlas. other nice one is pathaway. you will have a hard time finding a already calibrated gps map for mexico. i travel about once a month from phoenix to mexico city, and use my gps. i also use my gps for justing walking around the city by the hotel sometimes.

my set up is nz90 with globalsat gps receiver.

as a side note, the CF gps cards only work on ppc. there are already calibrated gps maps for ppc -- but i suggest sticking with palm/sony.
