I am having trouble playing MP3s. I have a 128 purple MS. When I transfer the files to the MS using windows media player the files transfer ok but then do not appear to be recognized by my SJ33 as MP3 files. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the above reply. But I am still unable to play MP3. It is like my SJ33 does not recognize the files as MP3 even once they have been saved to the right spot.

Any other suggestions

I thought I would answer my own question. As far as I can work out the windows media player on windows XP does not record audios in an MP3 format it uses WMA format. I have now been able to get the MP3 to work by downloading a plug in that converts the WMA format to MP3.

Idea: Get X-Teq's X-Setup (http://www.xteq.com). One of the many options in it is to allow the newer versions of WMP to encode MP3 files.

Better Idea: Stop using WMP! Go to http://classic.winamp.com and download Winamp2 to play files, then go to http://cdexos.sourceforge.net and download CDex, a highly configurable ripping utility, and finally go to www.cd-rw.org to find an encoder yo like to use ... I use the LAME command-line app, myself (ph34r the l337 DOS l0v3r ...)

Although it sounds complex to use three programs, all are easy to use, freeware, and provide decent results. And they don't even keep track of your info like WMP does :)
