Low-power WiFi, Bluetooth, Cell Phone or Wireless modem, GPS, Data storage, Vibrating alarm, digital/analog I/O that would allow me to use the NX as a cheap and ultra-portable data acquisition/device controller in the laboratory and when working in the field.

More importantly the ability to have two or more of these options available at the same time (i.e. bluetooth in CF slot, MS slot for data storage). I don't particularly care if Sony doesn't release the drivers as long as it appeared that they would develop such items or have them developed by a partner company.

The petition will only work if we all believe it will and we all work hard to make it happen. This might sound foolish but positive thinking always gives better results than negative arguments about how bad an idea could be instead of stating a solution.

My petition will be to give all complash flash developers access to the APIs or other files necessaries to make the Clie Compact Flash slot more useful for Clie users. Handspring made modules for the Visor, but it also gave other companies complete support by giving them all the tools they needed. The Visor was a big success and we all remember that. The Visor never failed, it just aged and Handspring stopped upgrading it because their ultimate plan was the Treo. Now, The Sony Clie could become a more powerful PDA for any user if it gives developers the key to the locked that exist in the Clie CF. I can see more people buying Clies than any other PDA if Sony make this decission. After all success is all about the customer. If we don't like it we don't buy it and we tell everybody else how much we hate that product. On the other had if we like it we will keep buying future versions and we will advertise how good the product is FOR FREE. As of today, I have to saddly say that SONY is not making many customers happy and that is a big mistake that can easily be solved.

It is a waste of space to include a slot that is industry standard and then not supply any drivers to support its use for other devices. Think of all the people that already own CF devices that might buy a Clie if it’s CF slot worked with their current memory.

In the end consumer will buy what is cheapest and works best. If MS is the leader here and offers the most bang/per buck the MS will win the consumers.

Oh yes… $ony there is not a chance in hell, that I'm going to spend $800 for a 1Gb MS... Get real! Clie goes bye bye before I dump that kind of cash into any memory card.
I think I speak for most of you customers when I say that.

Give up some CF drivers that work with memory and cooperate with developers so that you PDAs can be their best.

As pricing for high-end palm OS devices increases with the Sony models, prices are dropping for Pocket PC's. It would seem that limiting the integration peripheral storage to just memory sticks will soon become a detriment to buying Sony over other handhelds that have similar functionality yet provide peripheral access to CF, Wifi, Storage, Buetooth, GPS, etc. from a variety of industry sources to enhance the use of their competing handheld products.

The temptation to leave the Sony platform increases each time these solutions become available on other devices. I like what the Clie has for now, but I'm keeping a watchful eye on the Pocket PC gains and the integration capabilities of other palm OS devices.

If Sony doesn't find a way to fit in with the rest of the handheld industry, it could find itself in a niche market where we would all lose!

For me, the ability to utilize multiple card rypes from a variety of different sources will decide whether I remain with Sony products!

Any of you out there who have tried burning movies to the MS would understand the immediate benefits - I could copy my VCD direct to CF!!!

Comment: Release your API's info, all of them. We need that plus CF drivers not just for CHEAPER MEMORY, but mostly (at least for me) I/O accesories. I bought this PDA because I thought it will eventually have CF slot functional. I dont a need a "CF Slot" for Wi-Fi, we need bluetooth,GPS,3G modems,TV turners, even analogs modes. Sony, don't waste this lil piece of wonder that you have here.
Better sell lots of CLIEs than lots of MS's (btw, more CLIEs represent more MS). Also, CLIE must represent like a 5% of your MS sales, which I believe its most used in digital cameras.

if you have NX70-V and a BT MS and you want to do a BT hotsync, so dear SONY, tell me where do you save all the synchronised files (doc2go etc. can save them direct on the MS) if the gate is occupated by your BT MS, and you can't use a CF for storage instead??!!

WE NEED THE CF DRIVER!! WITHOUT YOU DENIE TO YOUR DEVICES THE HALF OF THE VERSATILITY!

think about all the units you loose because people choose and buy other devices (handera330 par example), even if they have to make compromises. YOU COULD SELL MORE!!!
