A buddy of mine recently gave me an S300, and told me that he'd had some software that let him access programs and databases directly from the memory stick... He reset/wiped the thing before he gave it to me, and can't remember what the software was. Has anyone heard of this?

I have some docs/manuals that I'd like to put on the system, but they're a bit large to put in the main memory...

Thanks,
Gabe

PiDirect II (http://www.pitech.com/software/PiDirect2/PiDirect2.htm) allows this functionality providing that the files are read only.

If you need the ability to modify the files, I've heard that PowerRun has this capabilty. For more information on this subject than you thought existed, I recommend Brian's excellent site, LaunchPlug (http://www.launchplug.com).

I run iSilo and all docs (about 50 megs worth) all off the mem stick on my NR70 with no problems. And, no, you don't need PiDirect or PowerRun or anything else. Just put iSilo in the /palm/launcher directory and the docs in /palm/programs/MSFiles directory and you're good to go.

It's a bit faster if you put iSilo in RAM, though, and just put the docs in the directory above.

The other area is under /Palm/Programs/isilo this is a dedicated area which only isilo uses for documents.
This will save the launcher trying to sort through a heap of isilo documents in /Palm/Launcher.
