I am a previous satisfied user of avantgo and have recently purchased an nx70v..... beautiful unit but thus far no hi res avantgo support as we all know.
My question...... I have installed and tried Isilo and it seems work, although there are so many steps involved in transferring the pages to the Clie...... finding the appropriate websites, converting to handheld format, and finally individually choosing which ones to hot synch. Am I missing something? Can this process be automated? It seems much more cumbersome than avantgogo wher once I choose my channels, I simply was able to update with a single hotsynch click. Also can my previously chosen avantgo channels he automatically transferred to Isilo?
Thanks for the responses

I would go to http://www.turcic.com there is a great list of compatible sites there to use with iSilox.

I've switched from avantgo to iSilo and have semi-automated the channel download: in iSiloX, I created a session with the channels (Web sites) for which I want daily updates, including the desired configuration for each. I saved it as dailydocs.ixl. Then I created quicklaunch shortcut execute iSiloxC:
isiloxc -x "d:\tdisk\DailyDocs.ixl" -v
Every morning, I click that button and whammo, my daily updates get downloaded and made ready for hotsync. I could probably use the Windows scheduler or StartUp folder to run the iSiloxc command but for various reasons I have not.
Also: Avantgo URLs are generally hidden so you need to hunt around for PDA compatible URLs;
bcoutlander recommended a good source.

Frank - I'd like to do this, but where do I create this quicklaunch shortcut execute thing? At a dos prompt?
I'd love to have Windows Scheduler do this for me.
Thanks for the help.

make a batch file in notepad and put this in it:
"C:\Program Files\iSilo\iSiloX\iSiloX.exe" -x "C:\isilo_converted\Channels.ixl" -u
then save it with the .bat extension. Then you should be able to set up the scheduler with that file.
Enjoy.

I'm an ex-AvantGo user who tried iSilo and although it did a good enough job, all that fiddling about was a pain.
So, I've switched to Handstory 2.3 which - as far as I'm concerned - kicks iSilo into touch when it comes to setting up and configuring web channels/'clips'.
From the Handstory homepage you can select from a host of predefined websites (just like Avantgo) or add your own.
The Handstory suite does a whole load of stuff more too, the most useful being its desktop integration which lets you copy text/images/webpages straight on to your Clie with zero fuss.
Want to download a map form multimap.com? Just right click on the image and it's done!
It's the best piece of Palm software I've come across in ages and well worth a go at $19...!

I too miss the convenience of AvantGo. I use iSilo now, and while adding a couple extra steps, it seems to work fine for me-when I'm at my desk. The part I miss the most is when I'm on the road without my laptop. I used to be able to sync to AvantGo's servers (via my cell phone) and get updated local news and my channels updated from their server without needing my laptop. Anyone know of a way to sync iSilo on my desktop from afar? Can Handstory do this?
