From what I've been reading, the still camera is the only app that is CF-enabled. What the hell is the point of that? Of all things they choose the app whose files take up the smallest space to enable CF storage??

Nope! Not even that. The original ClieCamera application that came with NX80V does not support CF.
Without any Hack, the CF is only used for the Wi-Fi CF card and some CF memory for application launching only. Not much use I say!

The NX80 leaves a bit more slack than other NX units, but is still locked out by Sony's apps. Basically, any application other than Sony apps on the NX80 will recognize the CF card. Running applications directly from the CF from a launcher such as ZLauncher or Power Run works just as it would from a Memory Stick.
The reason why Sony has not released it's various API's for the Camera, Movie Recorder and Player, and Audio is because Sony knows that if they do, 3rd party developers will create software applications for the NX devices that allow them full use of the CF slot for movies, pictures, and music and as such they will go out and buy cheaper CF storage cards rather than the Memory Sticks that Sony gets a royalty on.
I would normally say that we should start a petition on the Clie developer's site, demanding that Sony release the API's to developers. I believe you need 200 signatures just for Sony to even look at it. However, I'm not really recommending that right now because Sony's reasons for locking these features out are built around $ and not around satisfying the customer.
I think it should simply be assumed by every consumer that if you buy a Sony device, you are buying into their proprietary formats and media. If some day someone hacks the CF slot perfectly with no problems, great. But I would never recommend anyone buy a unit in the Hopes that that may happen.

Now with the UX apps, you can use the CF with Audio/Movie player and the camera. Someone needs to get movie recorder from the UX so that we can record to CF too.

I believe Pelaca is working on the recorder now.
This issues is with the Sony apps, NOT the drivers. Third party apps that are multi-VFS(card) aware work great!

The CF enable is for non-sony camera user to use clie to view their images or edit it but you had to move it or copy it to ms first.

I think we should be gracefull that Sony put those drivers in there. If they had the WiFi stick ready then there wouldn't be a CF-slot at all.
You prolly want to say (and me too), "Sony could have built WiFi in the new NX-series". But from what I understand is that Sony wasn't happy with the XScales regarding battery drains. Hence the Handheld Engine now in the UX. It has built-in WiFi so there isn't a need for a CF slot.
So I agree with r0b456. Sony is a company who wants to make money, just like any other company. And it pushes its own products/formats, just like any other company would do. People should know that when buying a product of a particular brand.
And Memory Stick isn't doing that bad, it even does better then SD. (I remember from a thread here on CS some time ago).

Very much agrees on this. I find that majority of Sony products in the market (stuff such as their laps, flash drives, memory sticks) are rather absurdly priced. I can't say whether they're any better compared to the other manufacturers, but they're one helluva expensive

I think Sony is quite success as it's stuffs are expensive and yet people still want to buy it.

Are those drivers only for NX60/70? Do I need any drivers for my NX80? Or, just the hacked applications (e.g., audioplayer, movieplayer, etc...)?
