just got ux 50- need help..

Just got this beautiful little machine for my birthday & need help setting it up. I guess I'm upgrading from nr70. I have missing sync 3.0.8, newest palm desktop but am having trouble w/ what I think is probably pretty basic. How do I get my user name into the ux 50?? I'm at a loss. Also, should I dump the old desktop & all its' files & start fresh? I can beam a lot of the stuff.
I'm a beginner when it comes to the installation of software but am a pro after that!
Also, the whole windows thing throws me, the clie manual says the installshield wizard will appear but it doesn't. I know it's because of the incompatability, so, is there anything on the clie disc besides games that I need to install?
Specific instructions would be greatly appreciated. The markspace FAQ's don't quite answer my problem & am not sure I'm even looking in the right place..

Congrats on your new UX-50. If your just looking at getting iCal and Address into you UX-50 you should be able to sync, and everything should be there. Make sure you click iSync on in the hotsync conduit settings.

The UX50 doesn't sync with iSync and Palm Desktop out-of-the-box. It REQUIRES Missing Sync. A lot of people are saying it doesn't and this just isn't true. The UX50 requires the missing sync to work on the Mac.

Kendra: There isn't anything on the Clie disk that you NEED to install, as it all comes pre-installed or can be downloaded from places like Palmgear.

Could you ellaborate a little more on exactly what throws you and what you want to know on the installer? I would recommend getting the installer directly from Palm (or MacUpdate) and installing from scratch, but that's me.

I synch with my 17"G4 via Bluetooth without missing synch.

I have a G4 and have reacently purchased the UX50;) there is no need so far for missing sync,the only problem i have or software they should sort for the mac is image converter that would solve a lot of problems.
But i sync and and palmdesktop are good enough for all the other problems.

Yea I dont know why that guys so into missign sync.. I tryied it and didnt do crap really except for mount your clie as a drive.

Heres the steps I took to install my UX-50 on the mac.

I went into the bluetooth config program and added a palm device from that (not through isync it didnt find it that way). After you get the deviced authorized on both ends then you install the palm desktop software from apples site.

After that I downloaded the iSYNC Conduct 1.1 from apple site

1. Open HotSync Manager.

2. Choose HotSync > Conduit Settings.

3. In the Conduit Settings window, double-click the iSync Conduit, then select "Enable iSync for this Palm device."
This allows your Palm Address Book, Date Book, and To Do information to be synchronized using iSync. (Notes on your Palm will continue to sync with the Palm Desktop.)

4. If you're using a Palm device that's localized for use with Japanese, select "This is a Japanese Device."
Important: If this is a Japanese Palm OS device and you do not select this checkbox, your information may become corrupted.

5. Click OK.

Your Palm OS device appears in the iSync window the next time you open iSync

Now when you click on the sync on your clie it will sync with your ical, address book
