MS export fails to install driver on WinXP pro. Also if i try to connect via ms gate winxp crashes! Have USB mouse,USB camera
that work fine. Sony site support no help.
The only time you need to install MSExport (MS driver) is if you use Win98. XP does not need MSExport and it will recognize your MS as removable disk as soon as you connect your Clie to the USB port and launch MSImport. I test this with my brother laptop running XP (he does not use PDA). I can use my Clie as MS card reader to any PC running with XP.
As far as a solution, try the following:
1. Uninstall the MSExport.
2. Restart the PC.
3. Place your Clie on the cradle.
4. Launch MSImport.
Your MS would be recognize by XP in Windows Explorer as the removable disk.
I don't undestand how MSGate can crash XP since MSGate only works in Clie and the only time PC would talk to Clie is when you put the Clie on the cradle that is connected to the PC via USB port and launch MSImport in the Clie.

Following DanT's step - make sure you disable any overclocking programs whilst MSImport is running. It can mess up the linkup. This can be done by (1) Disabling the hack (afterburner) or swiping the graffiti area (FastCPU) or (2) placing MSImport on the exceptions list (ie. run at default CPU speed).

I didn't originally post the question, but I do thank you for the answer! I am having the same problem with mine. I didn't even think about Afterburner...
