I've been having this trouble for a while and now that I have tried everything I could think of on my poor T665, I'm gonna start asking people :)

Basically, the IR port is very flakey.

Here's a quick rundown of the symptoms:
- IrMonitor detects the beam signals from everything I tested (Although with a big X instead of a O, which I assume means a faulty signal or something)
- IR Ping fails to detect any IrDA signals from lots of things (Printers, other PDAs etc.), *BUT*, it does detect my phone!
- OmniRemote works if Beam Receive is enabled. If it isn't, it comes up with an error message stating that the HotSync port is in use or something?
- Beaming between other PDAs is really messed:
T625 -> T665 = Works
T665 -> T625 = T625 doesn't even acknowledge (IrMonitor senses the signal, but with a big X)
T665 -> SJ30 = Works
SJ30 -> T665 = Gives an error, something about database not in right format (Tried this with PRCs, Memos, Addrs, Business cards...). Similar to the error you get if you try and beam something that isnt a Palm database to a Palm.

HOWEVER, and this is what really bakes my noodle, is that:
+ IR Pong 2 works over infrared, between both T625 and SJ30 and my T665 (While diagnosing, my friend and I wasted 30 minutes playing this :)
+ PageNOW, the GSM SMS comms software works, and can happily upload and download SMS messages from my phone all day (Well, 2 hours anyway :)
+ ptelnet works with my phone, and (with a few retrys) the IR port on my brother's laptop.
+ OmniRemote *used* to work whether BeamReceive is on or off, but once I loaded Omni while listening to an MP3, and ever since I've had to enable Beam Receive...!

I am also having beaming problems with my665. I bought a student friend a cheap Palm m105. I was trying to beam her some contacts we share. It did about 5 and them refused to work.

I have also tried to do a IR hotsync with my laptop. This has never worked.

Do I have a screwed up IR? I've done a soft reset and that doesn't help. Should I try a hard reset?

The only time I hear people run into problem is when they overclock the OS with apps like FastCPU or AfterBurner.

Hey I finally reach 1000 post :D

I had this problem with the IR port on my T615...
Solved it by disabling FastCPU temporarily.

For you, it might be Afterburn or FastCPU. Just disable overclocking when using IR port.

I had the same problem with my T615 while using FastCPU.

An alternative to turning FastCPU off (which means having to reset the clie), is to go to prefs and turn Beam Receive Off and then On just when you are about to receive a beam. You have to receive only one file at a time, and each time, you may have to repeat this procedure.

At least you don't have to reset.

stay cool.:cool:

Ayamd1, the stylus swipe across the graffiti area to turn on/off FCPU does not fix for your beaming problem?
