Me too! Personally I don't like the free case, it adds to much bulk to the unit also i charge my clie every night which I have to remove the case.

So ummm.... Cyberskin is a screen protector? I only ask because I can't tell what you are trying to display in your first 2 pics.

eww, the cyberskin seems to be a protective cover, but i can't really see it on the UX, i can see it in the picture on the website though, it looks all bubbly. hmmmm, maybe i should get one

I think Derek456 is the only person in this forum to give us a proper definition of cyber skin ;)

Personally I think cyber skin is a re-paint job. Derek's Clie look white than silver!

:D

Personally, I think the blowup doll would be more interesting...just kidding. This stuff looks to me like some kind of paint on or spray on protective film/skin, like giving your pda a protective layer of rubberized material to prevent scratches and dings. I don't know how much it mosts, but I don't know that I'd spend money for it, if this is what it is.

I could use a little more of a textured surface on my NX80.

Um...ok...I did not do the pre-order thing beforehand so that is why they can't sell the case to me!!! This is really sad!!!

Quick translation of ARM Station Cyber Skin description:
It is a type of "fiber" material to protect the exterior of your PDA, primarily the bottom, from scratches. It is transparent and can be cleaned with a wet cloth. Removal is easy and does not leave any marks. Because applying Cyber Skin requires some skill, ARM Station recommends bringing in your PDA to their office. Cost: HK$100 for bottom, plus HK$50 for top.

The free Sony leather Clie case that came with the UX pre-order offer isn't a practical case. It adds good cover protection but I find it annoying to take of the case each time when charging the Unit, also the case doesn't offer a place to put an extra stylus :(

"Anthony" I'll guess you'll have to wait for the next delivery. :D

anthonyjcrocks
09-21-2003, 11:39 PM
That is SO sad. And hey I just called Armstation and they told me that I can get the cyberskin for free if i buy a screen protector they will give me the cyberskin for free!!! and they will even put on the cyber skin for me!!! Does anyone know if it will be worth it?

Blow Up Doll  ....

The Free Cyberskin is shiny in color, if you want the transparent color like the one in my photo, you need to pay HKD$30 more for the bottom part of the UX

anthonyjcrocks
09-22-2003, 12:58 AM
yeah I just called them up to confirm it. Oh and another thing. If there is anyone willing to sell their case to me then I would galdly buy it off them!!! ;)

Wow...I must say, these are the nicest pictures of the UX I have seen up to this day! Hahaha...really tempting me to upgrade from my NX80 :D Great work Omnitron, and I couldn't even tell the Cyberskins were on the UX! Nice application job.

Let us know if you find one. I am thinking about ordering the new Xigma pouch case and bringing it to a shoe cobbler and having a universal belt-clip nub sewn into the back. I did that one with a Brando case for my NR70v and it worked great.

I just got the cyberskin thing and the people at armstation did it for me. It honestly looks great but there are a few bubbles but they tell me that the bubbles will go away after a day as the plastic builds around it. It does not have a rubbery texture as some of you guys might have been thinking. The skin gives it a very slippery feeling to it so that is my only problem, other than that, I am glad that I have some other sort of protection on it!!!

Derek456
09-22-2003, 09:54 AM
yes.....the bubbles will go away around in 2-3 days

Any way for Americans to get ahold of cyberskin? How hard IS it to put on?

Deaton
09-22-2003, 10:02 AM
I can't find any information on their web site at all (even after translating it into English) about Cyber Skin. Is it or is it not available for the NX70V and, if so, is it user-installable? I don't think it's worth a trip to Hong King to get them to install it for me.

Also, is it thick enough that it interferes with sliting your PDA in and out of a case?

Derek456
09-22-2003, 10:08 AM
yes..it's available for NX70

Deaton
09-22-2003, 10:12 AM
How about the other question - does this affect the use of a PDA case and is it something you can install myself?

anthonyjcrocks
09-22-2003, 10:14 AM
Well the Cyber skin is not specificly made for any clie, phone, Palm or Pocket PC. It baslically is a piece of thin square plastic that you stick on your Clie and use a cutter to trim the unwanted/excess parts. I was watching the woman who was doing it for me and she made it look really simple but she gave me quite the scare when she was using a cutter around my UX-50 to shape the plastic. I honestly think that it will be really hard to get it right the first time or even the second time. I am not sure if they have them in the US. And yeah I do hope that these bubbles will go...other than that, it is great...

Another thing, no, it does not affect your useage as you honestly don't know it is there!!! :)

I can clearly see that this seems to be a promotional advertisement. :D

Sorry to say but this is a true personal case...
I had my gun-metal NX70 brought to have the cyberskin clear plastic film applied on the backing of my NX70, boy, there were bubbles all over the place, I had to tear off the tape instantly that night.

Eddy

But I did see another customer at the A.R.M shop that had the plastic film applied on his TG50, it was nice. :D
Perhaps the NX70 was a bit more tough to apply those plastic film, because there're so many edges & the staff there was having difficulty dealing with so many customers all at the same time. :p

From the website, cyberskin is a piece of plastic that protects the surface from being scratched. It's supposed to be put on the back of the pda because that's where it's most easily scratched.

Cyberskin is a very thin piece of plastic and won't affect the looks of your pda. It can be removed with no residue. If you put the cyberskin on when you buy the pda, it would look cleaner if you want to sell it, so it can be sold at a higher price. After putting on the cyberskin, you can still use a wet cloth to clean it. For pdas as big as NX70, users can consider putting it on the front and back of the pda, it has the same protectiveness as a leather case without the added size and weight.

Because putting the cyberskin on requires some skill, ARM station would help you put it on. They are located in Yau Ma Tei.

Cost: $100 HKD (each pda) (for an additional sheet to put on the front as well, another $50 HKD)

Note: Takes about 15-30 minutes to put it on.

I got my UX-50 15 days ago, together with the case PEGA-CA40, I personally don't like it, and I will ask a leather shop here in Argentina (we are world's best for leather goods) to develop a custom case. As soon as I have it, I will post pics to the forum.

A little bit of advice please?

yeah, I know, but it looked really horrible, & because mine was the NX70 gunmetal color, the clear tape really shows the bubbles all over. I couldn't handle it so I just toke it off. It was a bit unbarable for me. I hope this time when I bring it over there with my new UX50 that it'll be much better. Thanks for the info. though.

I guess you'll just have to follow that lady staff's advice to wait for 2-3 days. Derek456 seems to be having a very nice finish with the plastic film. I hope when I go visit A.R.M. this time, there'll be less people waiting & so that she can do a better job on my UX50, & hope that I will have the patience to watch the bubbles go away, it's really irritating. I know how you feel, because I felt the same last time. My girlfriend keep telling me to tear it off, says " the film makes the NX70 look so ugly.... blah blah..." . :D

do you actually work there at the A.R.M. place? I just kind of realize that all the Clies have the clear plastic film on them, which are at extra cost from the free plastic film with the glittering shines on them.
Next is the black pad that you use to put the PDA on, it looks similiar to the one A.R.M. shop uses at the counter. *hint*

wow I wish I knew about this cyberskin thing earlier! I was just in HK staying over in Jordan this last week!

So if the Cyberskin is just a film that wraps onto the clie, can you guys see the edges? Will they be likely to collect dust and then start to peel off from the edges?

I think you should check out the UX case produced by a Japanese company called Extreme-Limit (www.extreme-limit.co.jp).

It is of good quality and quite slim and doesn't add to much bulk to the UX, I ordered from them last Thursday, and got the case on the Saturday...
