My 2 month old 665 will not be repaired from Sony. I have an ink blotch along the right hand side of the screen, the thickness of the scroll bar basically. They say that the only way to get a blotch like this is by dropping it and that is not covered. Really I did drop in on my desk but nothing worse than I ever did with my other palms or pocketpc's.
Comments?
thanks

Sony are cheap gimps. I had to get dead pixels repaired on my Clie. Had about 12 of them. They sent it back 'cause it didn't "qualify" (needed 0.01% - so 15 dead pixels). Then it got worse, I easily hit 30 pixels and up. Sent it again (also with a Memory Stick problem and a USB connector charging issue). Asked for a new unit. They called me back, said they will give me a new SCREEN. Got my unit back. *JUST* the screen was replaced, not a new unit. I used to have a screen protector on mine, so they sent me that too. I was like "hey, at least I got a new screen protector, yay". Put it on. Saw my Bejeweled pattern. Realised they sent me my own bloody screen protector.
How cheap is that :P
(That's Sony Japan btw. So they're not much different :p)

All manufactures can be very difficult about these issues. Remember about 90% of all problems manufactures deal with are physical damage and not manufacture defects. So there is a thin line. I would say next time play it safe and get the extended warranty, most retailers now have them for something like $30 when your purchase it. One of the best things that you can ever do, They will replace the damaged unit no questions asked, and let Best Buy or where ever you bought it deal with Sony and the damamged unit.

I have an extended warranty but it does not kick in until the manufacturers is up.

Can you tell me what the USB problem is? If used an USB charging cable for a few weeks now and it worked properly. But now all of a sudden the charging light doesn't go on any more when I plug it in.
Nothing is changed.
Is it the same problem?
