I'm currently working with a woman who swears in order to hotsync she would just click the red/blue arrows in the system tray and that would activate a hotsync. Currently when she clicks it just brings up the menu for various options like it does on mine. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was possible and how to change it.

When I showed her how to do it via the palm (finding hotsync, clicking the icon) she had never done it that way before, so is this possible, to make the tray icon activate a hotsync? I would think it would be, because currently if you right, left, single, or double click it always brings up the options, would make sense if left click did a hotsync and right click brought up options (imo).

So is this possible?

Not to my knowledge. For this to happen, the Palm would constantly need to check for communications with the PC. I have seen this done on a Dell Axim X5 Pocket PC device though.

Is there another way to activate a hotsync via the pc then? Perhaps an icon on the desktop or something of that nature?

Does everyone who has a model of this series have to go find the app HotSync in their palm, then press the button with the stylus?

Is that really so bad though? I mean it's not like it's hard to find the app, especially if you have them organized well...

Or you could pay $50 and get a cradle with a HotSync button on it.

I'm probalby going to get a cradle, but that's because I've been using an N760 for so long, I really love having a cradle to rest my Clié on.

Try Cradlesnd. You can set it to auto hotsync as soon as it detects the charger. All you have to do is make sure your clie is on when you put on charge. If you don't want to sych just make sure clie is off. Has been working well enough for me that I decided aganist the cradle.

peloquin: Well I don't think it's a big deal, but it's not for me and people have their preferences so.... I personally have a nx70 and the button is on the cradle and I always press that to sync.

Gnosh: thanks for the app, I will try it later this week and hopefully she'll like that.

Thanks again,

I use easylaunch and map the hotsync to the long press of my memo pad.... works like a charm. A cradle would be a waste of money.

ZLuncher can do it. just customize your bottom task bar and add a hotsync shortcut , and their you go!!!! now anytime you tap on that botton, hotsync will start automaticaly without taking you to any other screen.
I hope this help........

kemzo: that's on the palm though, I was trying to get it on the windows system tray. This way she doesn't even have to turn it on, just press hotsync and it turns on and does it (much like the button on a cradle). Since no one has heard of this before, I don't know how she was doing hotsync's, which leads me to my next/new question.

Is there anyway to activate a hotsync from the PC?

If there is then I can do what kemzo said and put an item in the taskbar in windows...

To my best knowledge, it is IMPOSSIBLE to start a hotsync on the desktop. The best thing to do is, if you don't have a cradle, to map a hardbutton with easy launch to do a hotsync. This way you don't have to turn on your palm first
