The following article was posted on CliéSource yesterday to enable visitors to CliéSource the ability to vote in the PalmGear Consumer Choice Awards. I understand that many members of CliéSource have objected to how the polls were posted and as a result have donated space on my personal website for the polls. The individual topics here have been removed at my request by Reggie and replaced with this single topic.

The polls may be found in a forum (http://thegriff.net/forums/viewforum.php?f=31) at my site. All visitors are welcome to vote, however you must register to comment. Please note that due to the move, the polls will start fresh and be open until September 21st, not the 19th as posted in the article.

Thanks,
Griff

In order to further promote the importance of the Palm OS platform
and user forums such as ClieSource.com, PalmInfoCenter.com and
others, PalmGear is posting

a poll so that you can cast your vote for the 2003 PalmGear Consumer
Choice Awards.

The PalmGear Consumer Choice Awards take PalmGear's top developers
and best applications and puts them to the test by those who know
them best - their customers!

PalmGear has teamed up with our PUG (Palm User Group) partners to
choose some of the best applications and developers for the PalmGear
Consumer Choice Awards nominees. The Consumer Choice Awards nominee applications are from
PalmGear Premier Partners, PalmGear's leading application developers,
which have been chosen by the PalmGear and the PUG community as the best in the
market for Palm Powered device users.

Cast your vote today! The poll will end on 9/19/03 at which time all
votes will be tallied. Winners will be presented their awards the
week of October the 12th on PalmGear's Developer getaway cruise, PalmGear Decaffeinated,
which will be attended by the top Palm OS developers in the world as
well as many Palm industry leaders.

Thank you for your participation and your continued support of the

I manually activated your account for you.

If you can remember the error your received, please send it to me in a PM. The forum has actually been up for a year with no troubles, but of course Murphy's Law states that as soon as you open it to the public, something must go wrong.

Likewise, if anyone else has problems, please send me a PM here and if possible the error and I'll get you fixed up.

Don't quite remember the entire error message, but it in part said that it could not save my personal information.

Griff, I just got back on since last night, and don't know if you answered my question, posted in the deleted threads. How are these apps/developers chosen, exactly? I can't believe DateBk5 is not on best apps. I'm disappointed about that . . . I don't use ANY of these apps except Acid Image . . . :(

First off, let me make it clear I have nothing to do with the selection process. Kenny had explained in one of the deleted threads that the nominees were selected by various Palm User Groups. You may wish to send him a PM to see if he'd be willing to hop back on and repost his explanation.

Just a reminder that today is the last day to vote in these awards. I know many have not agreed with the nominees, but the awards will be given to one of them, so be sure to vote for who of the nominees you think should be recognized.

Poll should have included an "none of the above" or write-in space. I can't vote for any of those since I have either no experience or no notable experience with any of them. I don't even consider Handmark as a serious developer. They seem to mostly resell other's work. Also, it would seem that ZZtechs would have won or finished very high in most of those categories.

Also, where is Chris Antos? He is the only developer that has three frequently used apps on my Clie.

I believe next years awards will be done by more of the community than just the user groups. Some how the various groups left PG with these nominees that don't seem to be a huge representation of the visitors to this site.
