Not that i know of, but they are bad for the owner......just had to do one myself about 5 min ago. It's the second time i had to do this since i bought it over a year ago.

...funny you should mention that! Yes, I think they do more damage to the owner! I was up 'till 2:30 am restoring from PC backup last night. I had some kind of conflict with the TealLock demo.... Hard Resets never seem to happen when you're looking for something to do....

Well, they're only bad from the point of view that your combination of applications is very screwed up. Hard resets aren't a physical problem.

Hard resets can be a good thing. It can clear the Clie of old baggage. It also helps it's owner to bolster their skills. With the right mental state, it can even be fun... especially if one has good backups!:D

I had to do a Hard Reset a few days ago and when I went to restore the applications onto my PDA, it installed EVERYTHING. How do I somehow delete the stuff that I don't want put back onto my PDA? I would really appreciate it if someone knew and would then pass alnong the information that I need. Thanx in advance.

Strange as I was up till 2:00am last night recovering from a freak hard reset cause by CF Utility/Driver.

The way I usually take care of this is to go to the directory where my Palm Desktop software is installed. In there, you will find a dir with your hotsync name, and under THAT there is a directory called "backup" (example: for me it is located at c:\Program Files\Palm\<Hotsyncname>\Backup)
Anyway, just remove from that directory the apps and DB's you dont want to install on your freshly hard reset palm, then simply hotsync.
As a rule of thumb, I usually copy the apps and DB's to another dir, just in case I need them again sometime.

...BTW..I fully agree with this. When I have the time, it actually IS fun to reinstall, reconfigure the palm..Not to mention the extra space you usually end up finding on your device when you are done!

If you keep having to do hard resets, try a warm reset. Awarm reset disables all System Enhancments. Instead of pressing the power button while pressing the reset button, press the page up button. The VG will not be loaded so press <Ctrl>+<F> to launch the file manager and delete the problem database or app.

Stopthepain,
Thanks much, I think I have seen this screen before but I just couldn't remember where it was located on Desktop Palm. Thanks a lot!

For us in Taiwan....We would need to install a chinese OS software. And once in a while there would definitely be some software conflicts and by that time the PDA would just be stuck to one screen. Hard resets are the only ways to cure this.
Actually it's a pity that we don't have built in Chinese OS on Palm. I have some friends that use PPC with built in chinese in ROM. Wish Palm would do this too. However I don;'t think that the software conflict could be resolved. But it would definitely be much better....And it could free some more space....Could you guys imagine installing a chinese OS would eat up close to 3mb of RAM.
