Hello everybody, I was wondering if it is possible to Hotsync my Clie to my HP laptop with Windows XP? If so, how do I go about doing it?
Thanks,
Greg

Hi,
That's rather easy. You install the Hotsync software, then you click on the icon on the task bar with the right button of the mouse, select IR (+ others if you want).
Then on the clié, you open the hotsync app, and choose "IR to a PC/Handheld" under the hotsync icon, and then tap on this icon to lauch the sync !
Very easy, I use it when travelling with my laptop and Clié !
Hope this help !

Greg,
yes, you can. You have to make sure that your IR port is enabled in the FlashBios of your computer (You can usually access it by pressing the F2 key while your computer boots up. If you have to enable it, make sure that you use a COM that is available, so that there is no conflict with other devices).
Once you know that the IR port is enabled, go to the Hotsync icon in your task bar... you should be able to see "Infrared" as an option. Put a check mark next to it.
Now, all you have left to do is to change your hotsync settings in your NX. Go to the hotsync app in your Clie and select "IR to PC" by tapping the arrow right below the hotsync logo.
Now you are ready to hotsync via IR. Just tap the hotsync logo.

One other you you may need to do is to do a soft reset before your laptop IR will "recognize" the signal. I needed to do that and now it works great!
As for speed... yes it's slower than using the cradle, but really, I can sync in less than a minute with IR (unless of course I just loaded a 1MB e-book!)
