converting MQV format to other video format

How do i convert video formats *MQV to AVI or MPEG file?

The MQV file is taken from a Sony PDA PEG-NX70/G. Anyone knows any free softwares of downloads where i can convert these files? :)

well, ArcSoft's ShowBiz can convert the video.... but not the audio. for some odd reason it won't recognise the fact that there's sound..... it also has a feature to save the audio as a WAV, but it just recorded a whole lot of silence when i tried using it.

anyone else got this software? came free with my pc.

can convert other video formats (ie divx to mpeg1) perfectly fine.

As far as I can see MVQ are MPEG4 movies. On a Mac you can just change the extension to .mov or .mp4 and the files will open natively in QuickTime, from there you can re-encode them to any format QT supports (which are any). I'm not sure if you can just change the extension on a Windows OS but you can certainly open the files in QuickTime (which should be on your clié install CD, if not just d/l it from Apple)
