updated: ECOST.COM has the nx80 for $459 TOTAL- free shipping, and no tax- except in their home state- sorry CA girls 'n boys :(...
I've been lusting for one of these bad boys for a while, but been restraining myself until the price came down to where I could deny being the technology-obsessed freak that I am (my nx70 ain't even one year old yet...)
Apparently, this was the magic number for me- maybe for you too?? Just sharing the wealth... peace out.

I'm pretty confident I'm gonna love this new toy too- mostly due to all the good press it got here... Sony should give y'all a commission! :D
I started poking around these forums just for tips on my nx70, but after reading the raves for the 80- esp. after n2ifp, aka Larry, aka Lord of the Forums :p weighed in, I was a goner...
I'll let you know how I like, but it'll be a few days- my nx80 is a-comin, but it's a-comin' good ole UPS (whadya expect for free?? ;)
Thanks again for all the awesome help and support- you guys rule!!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the only difference between the NX80V and the NX73V that the 80 has a better camera?(including the built in light), and of course the color?
Also, I'm new to PDA's and I've read the differences from the NX70v and NX73V, but I'm still not 100% sure what to get. I see what the differences are, but being totally new to the PDA world, I'm not sure how valuable those differences might be. I'm getting a great deal for an NX70v from amazon, which comes out to a total of 302 including the 30 dollars promotion offer. I've also found the NX73V for 450. I will be buying a memory stick so even if I choose not to get the NX70v at amazon, I can apply the 30 dollar promotion deal to something else. So the difference is 120 dollars, but since I'm getting that great deal at amazon, I think I might just stick with it, but not sure. They've messed up my order twice already, so hopefully everything will go fine this time.

The only other difference between the 80 and the 73, aside from the camera is the increased heap space on the 80 that basically eliminates "Page too Large" errors from Netfront. This will only matter to you if you intend to do a lot of surfing on your NX.
As far as the 70/73 comparo goes, the 73 has a backlit keyboard, application buttons in "tablet" mode, a brighter screen, better battery life, all the Sony updates built-in (MS Pro support, CF slot memory support, WiFi driver support...), and a ton more flash memory to be accessed via JackFlash.
Oh yeah, and it's black. Which is cool.

I know what the differences are, I'm just not sure if it's worth that extra 120 dollars since I'm totally new to the PDA world. My shipment from amazon is shipping soon so I can't cancel anymore. I've looked around and 300 dollars still is 50 dollars cheaper than any place. I went to my local bestbuy today and they were selling this same model for a whooping 450 dollars!! Thats how much the NX73v is at pcmall with overnight shipping.

I have a feeling that the NX70 is going to suit you just fine. The $120 you save can go towards a mem stick or WiFi card (or rent), and a quick search of the forums will point you to all the hacks/patches/ugrades you need to trick out your new PDA exactly the way you want it.
Have fun!

Hey Prozak-
The good news is that this forum has the answers to EXACTLY the questions you're asking- the bad news is this thread ain't the best place to find them ;)
If you poke around a bit you'll find threads labeled "nx80 vs. nx70" or "80/73 vs. 70" or "which nx to buy?!" (you get the idea...) where the subject is practically beaten to death!
just be warned: knowledge can be dangerous- that poking around eventually sold me on the 80, which you correctly note as the most expensive of the bunch :(
one comment which may not be in those threads is the power of seeing these machines in person- I wandered into Circuit City a while back 'just to look ' and found myself irresistably seduced by the 80's charms- I knew it was just a matter of time b4 I succumbed...
one last comment- I honestly believe there ain't a bad choice in the bunch! Happy hunting...

Thanks for the advice Fabutech. I'm new to the boards so I'm still getting use to the navigation, so sorry for trying to revive a dead horse =p. Anyways, I'll poke around and I'm sure the NX80 is a nicer machine, and who wouldn't want that? But even at 480 it is out of the price range I want to pay. And my order from amazon is going just fine now it seems so unless someone wants to buy it off me I think I'll keep it.
