I'd appreciate if you could tell me if there is any problems using the following applications on NX80... I am migrating from OS4 to OS5 and trying to figure out which of my old applications are going to be trashed. Thanks!!!
Backupbuddy (VFS)
Avantgo
Bugme
McFile
McPhilling
PalmPrint
PiDirect

I think those all are OK, but to be sure, you can go to www.palmgear.com and search for the apps to see if they are Palm OS 5 Compatible.

Backupbuddy (VFS) -- Works
Avantgo -- Works
Bugme -- dunno
McFile -- Works
McPhilling -- dunno
PalmPrint -- Works
PiDirect -- Doesn't Work
thats all I can tell you, hope someone else can fill in the blanks, I just never used those programs.

all but pidirect will work. just make sure you have the os5 versions if needed.
pidirect will certainly not work. use zlauncher instead to move apps and related dbases to card.

To the best of my knowledge all but Pidirect will work with the NX80
I don't believe Pidirect works on OS5 units (Don't miss it with Zlauncher aorund anyway).

Hey, two opinions are better than one. Believe it or not, humans can be wrong sometimes (not that you guys are, just in general).:D

McPhling no longer works as a hack, since OS5 doesn't support hacks. You can update to a standalone, OS5 version of the program, however (for a small price, of course...). Also, you'll want to upgrade to the OS5 AvantGo client so you can take full advantage of hires+ and JogDial support (really makes a difference).

Tealmaster does support SOME hacks in OS5, JogPage Hack is one. I couldn't live without it.
PiDirect will not nor will it ever work in OS5.
MS Backup is still the most reliable backup, but it's not perfect nor does it have any automatic scheduling.
BugMe works!

I wish a PiDirect-like app would work since there are some DBs I'd like to keep on VFS but the apps that use it aren't VFS aware.

thanks for the information everybody.
It's good to know that backupbuddy VFS is OS5 compatible, since it saved me few times on my NR70V. Has anyone performed a restore using backupbuddy on NX80?

I'd be curious about this as well.
Since upgrading to my NX80, I've only been using MSBackup and haven't needed to try a restore.
I used to use backupbuddy VFS and restored with it on several occasions on my T665.
Any advantages of one over the other? (Other then timed backups, which I never used)

Time backups is the only reason I want to use the BB VFS. This way, I know that I can always restore things to day before :)
I remember from my NR70V that when I restored using MS backup, some of the files and applications were not restored. I dont know if anything is different in the MS backup included with NX80. somebody else may have an idea on this one...

I have been checking out Zlauncher and just LOVE it!!! I was a big fan of YiShow before, but this one is waaaaay better! Thanks for the advice...
I think it is safe to say that Zlauncher will be replacing Pidirect, Mcfile and Mcphilling (to a degree) in my unit ;)
