It's "Sony PEGA-NX80V/U" to be exact.

The last character designator in the model number is "U" which stands for the USA model.

There is no NX80 only, but many like myself shorten it up for our typing effciency...:D!

The "V" was very important when the NR70 and NR70V were two different handhelds (with camera and without). After that Sony started giving different numbers to each like NX 60/70 and 73/80 in which the higher number is the one with camera, or with better camera. Although the NX80 does have a V on the model number on the back, you don't need to say it anymore because there's only one NX80.

The other letter after that in the model number is the country or region identification. The U.S. is "U," Japan is "J," Europe may be "E" these days, but I'm not sure. That indicates what languages come with the device.

for the 73v the country (or rather continent) indicates even more than just the language ,-) and now i even own a cable for british sockets. are all their plugs so large? to me it seems to be the perfect accessorie for self defense purposes *fg*

btw. if there would be a nx80 without v i would have to cry, because that would be just perfect for me and my 73 just arrived. but so far there's no sign of the 80 to come out in europe anyway ,-(
