Well I got a bit of a problem. I'm getting a PDA because I "have to". One of my classes at college requires it(and probably more in the future) because we will be using a program called Paperless Technology, which is basically just a program used to take tests. Anyways, I got a great deal for an NX70v at Amazon.com, It was 320 dollars+12 dollars for 2 day shipping and a 30 dollar gift coupon for signing up to use their credit card, so a total of about 302 dollars(no tax as well). Well a day later I noticed that the price jumped to 370 dollars and amazon no longer had it themselves, but was only hosting it for J&R. I orderd it Sept 7, and was supposed to receive Sept 10, BUT they screwed up my order. Instead of it being Sept 10 2003, it turns out to be Sept 10 2004(yes an entire year later). I emailed them, they apologized and it was fixed. Well my order was supposed to ship today, and it hasn't shipped, so I get the feeling maybe they don't want to honor this deal. I need to have it by at least the 23rd of this month, because my first test will be the 26th and I really should have had it by now, so I'm considering cancelling my order and putting an order for a NX73v at compuplus, which would come out to about 415, but I'm not sure how reliable they really are, I've waited on amazon for too long already, I really can't afford another delay. Or I could order the NX70v from a different dealer for about a total of 350, but is the NX73 worth an extra 60-70 dollars?

Oh and a second concern is that the NX70 comes with documents to go, while the nx73 doesn't. I've never owned a pda but the ability to edit things in word sounds very valuable as opposed to just being able to read them, any thoughts on that?

Well, the NX73 has these added features over the NX70.

All drivers, such as WiFi 802.11b, MS Pro memory stick, and Compact Flash driver.

JackFlash will add another 15MB+ of storage for apps in Flash ROM, where as the NX70 noly gives 4.8MB.

Keyboards are more compatible with the NX73, esp the KB100.

The NX73 has a lighted built-in keyboard.

Retractable compact flash slot.

Black in color.

Buttons accessible in tablet mode.

Brighter screen with more saturated colors.

Longer battery life

Slightly improved apps, no Docs To GO.

NetFront and Picsel viewer are in ROM now, Picsel can view apps like Word natively(no conversion).

I personally think Wordsmith is a better app for word processing, but the complete version is not free.

Yes the NX70 does include Docs to Go, but I already had the Premier Version.

I don't know if that helps any in your decision...?

I have an NX70V today. While the NX73 didn't have enough new features to compel me to upgrade, I would definitely purchase it instead if I was making that decision today. The additional memory, new buttons in tablet mode, lighted keyboard, etc. are worth the extra money, IMO.

Yeah, that helps some thanks. The only thing I really don't understand is the extra Flash ROM the NX73 is supposed to have. I know the NX70 has 16mb total, 11mb available for the user. But when I was looking stuff up on the NX73 it also had 11mb listed for the user. I would of thought the 16mb would be available for ths user, or does the NX73 just need 20 mb of flash rom?

Oh and I believe the NX73 is slightly smaller than the NX70. Thanks for responding.

Prozak, I answered your PM about the Dell coupon...it was only good on 9/11.

Doc apps...
Right now I use QuickOffice, but have used Docs to Go and Wordsmith in the past. QO is kinda high-priced (but supplied by my employer), so I would also recommend Wordsmith over D2G.

Size...
My travels took me by a local "WorstBuy" store. The sales rep hadn't a clue what an NX73v was, so I did a side-by-side betwen the NX80v (which is a very similar case to the 73v) and NX70V. They're darn near identical in size/weight/feel. The 73v/80v is a little more "squared-off" compared to the 70v, but still feels comfortable in my hand.

FlashROM...
I think you must've found either a RAM spec for the 73V or mistaken reviewer.
Where the NX70 uses a 16Meg ROM chip (with 5Meg unused), the NX73 has a 32Meg ROM chip (with 15Meg unused).
Using JackFlash, you can access this unused part of the ROM for non-volatile storage (stuff in ROM won't be lost if you need to do a hard reset.).

BTW, I will also mention again www.mwave.com has the 73v in stock for $430 shipped. I've had good luck with their customer service, and order-processing/shipping is pretty prompt as well. Might be worth the extra few dollars. (no, I don't work for em...I'm just a very happy long-term customer :D)

Hey thanks for responding, I'm still not sure how to check if someone has sent you a message, but I'll figure that out soon. Compuplus has it for 415 with 2 day shipping, but I don't know how fast they are in delivering things etc. I'll check out the site you gave me though.

I couldn't edit my post for some reason, but anyways, I checked out mswave.com and they are in California(same as me) so with sales tax it'll be about 450. Oh well hehe.

I have to disagree, i bought an nx70 at amazon last month and decided to avoid the nx73 cuz there aint enought features to merit the $100 or so extra. The features mentioned by hherbzilla are nice, but not essential. CF and MS provide great memory and i like to keep little in onboard memory. Docs to go is ok but u def need wordsmith or the like. BUT, for nearly little over $400, it mite be possible to get a good deal on an nx80
