Can't hotsynch w/ XP

Upgraded with a fresh install of XP.  When I tried to hotsynch it worked the first time.  Then when I tried to install a program, it freezes when hotsyching and says that the connection with the computer was interrupted.  Did some messin' around and found that as long as I'm not installing any programs, it'll hotsynch fine.

Help?

 

I've tried doing a hard reset, but the same problem persists.  I've also done the same thing with my old 98SE machine, but it doesn't happen on it, just the XP box.

but, did you try re-installing the Palm Desktop software on the PC? I haven't experienced this problem with XP. I'm using XP pro SP1. Are you using a cradle or a sync cable?

Yes, I did try to reinstall Palm Desktop (from the Clie disc).  I am using a cable.
