For those that are familiar with TT4NX, which replaced the Standard Sony thin fonts with the font found on the Palm TT, Lubak has really improved it!! He has added 4 additional fonts to it, and renamed the app Fonts4NX. The new fonts are based on versions that he made for OS4 devices running FontHack. The new fonts are:

SansSerif - An Arial-like font - my personal favorite!!
HandEra - Similar to the font found on Handera devices; very thin!!
HandEra Bold - For those that like a thin font but found the non-bold version too hard to read
Tahoma - not sure how to describe this; more like NewTimesRoman I guess.

This new version is now shareware, costing $8, and available from Palmgear (http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=41107820030130153046&prodID=46462)

You can install all or some of the fonts, and all have previews in the Fonts4NX screen. To change fonts, just run the Fonts4NX file, and you can choose which of the 6 you want.

This is very easy to use, and the fonts look great. I have no association with Lubak. I just missed my old SansSerif font from my NR days, and asked him to make a version of TT4NX for SansSerif, and he decided to not stop there!!

For those that previously used TT4NX, please read the following!!

From the Readme file: Before installing Fonts4NX or any of the new fonts, please first deactivate TTFont4NX and then delete TT4NX and TTFont4NX from your device.

rldunn,
How do you deactivate the TTFont4NX I do not know how to do this? Do you delete the program from the NX and reset?
Thank you

Those would be the instructions for TT4NX not for Fonts4NX. The only way i can see to deactivate Fonts4NX is by clicking on "Activate Original font." Then you should be able to delete it.

Right. For deactivate Fonts4NX - click on "Activate Original font" and after SoftReset you can delete all Font4NX-* and Fonts4NX.

Hi Lubak,
After the font is activated, can I move Fonts4NX.prc to memory stick to save my ram?
THanks.

I don't understand.
I see TTFont4NX ONLY when I go into Info or delete.
I seem to recall that when I installed it my NX crashed (hard reset crash) when I
finished restoring everything form my MS it was active...
There is not icon to choose to deactivate it.
How was I suppose to install this???
I only installed TTFont4NX...
I hope I don't have to crash and burn again.
Thanks

It seems to work just fine from the launcher folder even before installing the fonts.

What a nice surprise! Thank you Lubak for sending registered users of TT4NX the new fonts as an upgrade!

I am wondering if I can have the program to load any of the fonts from the Memory Stick.

All the fonts are taking up some space in my limited memory!

Lubak,

You mentioned earlier that the fonts (and app?) can be moved to MS. If so what is the best way? I am using YiShow.

Thanks.

I had it installed for less than 7 seconds before I made the purchase... totally love the new and variable look.

I stored everything on the MS other than what is in use and move it to RAM if I need it. It would be nice to keep the app in the launcher folder and unused fonts in their own directory on the MS.

I like the Tungsten T font the best, so I will proabbly just stick with the older version...but it is great that there are people out there trying to improve the NX70!!!

I don't know.

But if localization software use own fonts, that no.

What about if one uses PowerRun and moves the app to the card?
Will this work, or with it crash?

Lubak,

Is it possible to have these fonts available for Palm Tungsten? My favorite font is handera bold. I am thinking about purchasing an OS5 device and I am leaning towards the Tungsten, unless sony comes out with a VG device with NO clamshell

n0m0n, the app can be moved to the MS, using PowerRun or any VFS-aware launcher, and it runs fine, but I would suspect moving the font files to the card using PowerRun would cause a lot of problems. The reason is that the system is constantly accessing fonts, not just when Fonts4NX is being run. I would guess that any VFS solution that Lubak comes up with will involved the current font being stored in RAM and all other fonts being stored on the MS, but I could be wrong on that.

Zippo, I know he was considering making a TT version. I'll let him post his intentions on that.

Now how would one choose multi fonts?
Like In OS4 you could choose bold type and a different type or size for maybe the original for a different application???
I think it was Font 123.
Is this possible?
Thanks

No, I asked Lubak that same question, but Fonts4NX isn't hacking into the OS, it's just replacing the regular fonts with a 1-1 replacement. What you're proposing would require hacking into the OS so that it checked with this app every time you launched an app to see which font to display.
