It's all a bit hard to believe. It won't be much news unless they plan to fully unlock the CF slot. Otherwise, expect a ream of new rants in this forum.

We do not have information regarding Sony coming up with CF drivers. The MemoryStick slot is not compatible with other memory cards.If you are looking for extra storage, you could opt for the new MemoryStick Select.

Hmm, I wonder what to believe. It seems that the people who work at Sony aren't really quite sure what's going on. The people that respond to e-mails might only have very basic training, so the responses are hard to determine if they are really making CF memory card drivers or not.

knowing sony, they will only have CF driver features available on the upcoming NX80, the upcoming replacement for the NX70, in which the only differences between the two models will be new updated OS 5.2 as well as CF memory and wireless support. They will not release these CF drivers to the public, but instead offer a $50 "mail in program" in which you send in your NX70 and NX60 to have sony service and install the CF drivers for you.

If they were to add bluetooth and 32mB ram that would be awesome, but eh I doubt it. Its a big conspiracy... the technology is there and capable, but sony is holding it back to increase its sales for as long as possible

the sony replies don't seem to be very consistent...it seems more like the response you got was just someone trying to shut us all up. Either that, or there's only a handfull of "informed" Sony employees (haha! who thought an informed sony employee even existed!).

I'm with Donkeystyle; I'll believe it when I see it. Putting on my conspiracy theory hat, an announcement like this could have the effect of stopping a 3rd party from pursuing any further development of the drivers, and if it's just a bluff, would mean increased sales of MS. Not saying that's true; just that it might be.

Why don't you guys e-mail your reponses to CliePlanet, PalmInfocenter, PDABuzz, etc so they can publish it on their main page. Well, let's start with ClieSource saying that Sony is realising a CF driver very soon for the NX.

Actually, from what I understand another major difference will be full compatibility with Stowaway keyboards (ClieGear) designed for the T/NR.

That is really the only thing I care about and that is what I am waiting for before I can upgrade from my NR70V

I didn't mean any confusion with the "NX80" comment, it was just a guess at the possible rumored replacement for the NX series that is supposed to come out soon and address some minor upgrades.

My response is below. To be honest, I have purchased a lot of Sony products across different product lines, and just the other day I was having a conversation with my brother on how many people won't buy the XBox because they don't want to support Microsoft in any way (even though for many people, it is easier to pirate XBox games than it is on the PS2.) As we continued to talk, I began to think that for some reason I have brand loyalty to Sony, but I have no idea why I do. If Sony does read these boards, and if they do listen to us, then they would release a way for CF memory to be used. Nothing would restore my confidence in Sony like that would. I would believe that Sony does infact listen to consumers, and that they don't put the dollar first. It's a high standard I have, but I don't think it's too hard for any company to follow.

I'm afraid currently it will not be possible to use the CF Memory Cards with your CLIE NX70V Handheld. However let me assure you that our team is working on it and a release can be expected in the near future.
