Can someone give me a hand with this or is this possible?
Without an Access Point; I'm wondering if it's possible to link my NX70 with the WiFi card to my notebook also running with a WiFi in order to do a hotsync. Not to mention, since the notebook is connected to a wired LAN; could it share the connection over WiFi to the Clie?
The notebook is an IBM T30 running Win XP Pro.
Any help or direction would be appreciated.

If your notebook can connect to your LAN via a wired NIC, then you can use the Wireless card to connect your Clie. Just set up the wireless connections in "Ad-Hoc" mode. I do it at work all the time. My notebook acts as an internet gateway for my Clie.

I had my WL100 talking to my T30 running Win2K as well.
Adhoc mode, static IP, no power save.
Also, make sure you have the right IP address in the "Primary PC Setup" HotSync option.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I'm not having much luck. Here's what I have running:
T30 has a profile setup
NX70 has a profile that simply has no WEP, Adhoc Ch 1 mode, and I've taken the IP address, SubnetMask from the T30's WiFi card. DNS is set on auto, power safe off.
The NX connects successfully to the T30, but Netfront doesn't appear to be able to open any pages. Should I be using the LAN IP settings off the T30 instead of it's WiFi values?
Once I get this part up, I'll try for the Hotsync next.
Thanks for the help

Ah ha. Got it. I put the Clie on full auto instead of static IP and it works like a charm.
Question now is, how do I get the HotSync portion working?

At the Hotsync icon in taskbat, you must mark the network option.
the goto setup, and under "network" tab (at the hotsync icon) and mark your name.
Check wether the IP address is the right one, and also the subnet mask (usually 255.255.255.0).
Good luck.

I think you can simply right-click the Hotsync icon in the system tray and select 'Network' for the pop-up menu. Not exactly sure what you do on the handheld, though...

I've done:
Hotsync icon is on Network and USB, and set the IP along with the subnet.
On the Clie, I've set it to use Wireless LAN, LANSync, and put in the values for the Primary PC Setup. Should the IP values here be identical to the ones in the Hotsync icon on the ThinkPad?
When I hit HotSync on the Clie, it connects to the wireless network just fine, but when it tries to connect to the HotSync portion it just sits there and eventually gives me a message that it can't connect.

Tolwyn,
Is your T30 running a DHCP server ?
Perhaps it's part of XP....
The Primary PC IP is the IP address of your T30.

On your Clie, enter (without the quotes) "!!" (two exclamation points) for the computer name. Mind didn't work until I did that.

Well, I've tried the suggestions without any success.
I'm fairly happy that I can browse the Internet away from my office while in meetings but it would be really nice to get HotSync working -- or even some sort of Windows Terminal server application to control the office computer from remote. Any ideas?

Tolwyn: Did you try the "!!" for the computer name on the Clie? Here's how I have mine set up:
Modem Sync Preferences: Network
LanSync Preferences: LANSync
Primary PC Name: !!
Primary PC Address: (Your Computers Net address)
Subnet Mask: (Your computers subnet address)
Click on Modem, select Wireless LAN for connection. Do not enter in a number.

I almost forgot...
It was mentioned in another thread that you had to have Power Save Unchecked, and be in infrastructure mode for the sync to work.
It was fine for me in ad-hoc mode, and power saver on...YMMV!

Good grief,
That was it. I changed the Primary PC name as you suggested along with the rest of my settings (staying the same) and now I can HotSync and browse wirelessly in ad hoc mode!
Fantastic! Thank very much everyone, specially you Fuffer.
By the way, what exactly does the !! do anyhow? Is it a generic replacement much like localhost or something?

I don't know the meaning of "!!" for sure, but I imagine it's a wild card of sorts...
