I hope this isn't a silly question. I'm going away for a month, and I have to leave my Clie behind.:( Should I leave the Clie in the cradle and charge the battery continuously unattended? Will that damage my battery, or otherwise harm my Clie? Or should I leave it out of the cradle, and let the battery run dry? I just wonder what's the safest thing to do. Thanks for any info.

"leave" your clie?
where are you going?
atlantis?
the sahara?

i may be wrong, but you should probably leave it cradled. i'm fairly sure this won't damage it.

heh, I couldn't leave my clie for any amount of time, even for vacation. I don't know if this helps but when I had a 505 I left it on the charger for a few days and it was screen dead... it would turn on for a hard rest but after confirming a hard rest it would die... had to let the battery drain by leaving the confirmation screen on... took a while but after that it was fine... dunno if it was actually leaving it on the charger or some freak incident, but I wouldn't leave it on for too long...

also, my nr70v's light goes off after it is fully charged, I'm not sure if that means it stops sending a charge, or if it is just a notification, but that might mean you can leave it on there if the charge actually stops when full...

so I guess you aren't any better off now than you were.... heh

hope this helps some.

A vacation without your Clie doesn't sound like much of a vacation to me!!!

With this kind of battery, I would imagine it would be better to leave in it's cradle. Might want to make sure the cradle is plugged into a surge protector though.

Yes I will be bereft of my Clie, but I will not be Palm free. I plan on taking my old Visor Prism. In case you're wondering, I'm going to Cambodia and Laos, and don't want to risk dropping my Clie in the Mekong or have it hurl to its death from the top of Ankor Wat. Then again, my last Palm made it to Machu Pichu and back, so maybe I shouldn't sweat it. Thanks for the input. If anyone has a definitive answer, please chime in.

I've had mine in the cradle for about a month and a half. Seems to be fine. Just remember to dust it when you get back...

Actually, what I would do is make a full back-up (with hot synch) and another with Backup Buddy. Then, I'd disable anything that happens automatically (like more backups). Then, I'd power down the unit and slide the Hold button so that it can't be turned on.

I wouldn't bother putting it in the cradle, zip it up in its case, and just hope the battery is still good after a month.

If not, charge it, do a hard reset, and then restore it from backup. No big deal.
