My NR70's screen hinge is sooooo loose that I am afraid the screen will detach all together one day :D
I have the BestBuy extended warranty on this unit and with an obvious problem like this, I should be entitled for an exchange. Has anyone recently used their extended warranty programs at BestBuy to get a new clie (i.e., NX80V)? I remember sometime ago that they were giving a hard time and sending the units for repair, unlike what we were told when we purchased the plan. Dont get me wrong, I am not making up an excuse to abuse the process. Just wanted to know whether I will have any problems when I go to BestBuy to get a NX80V.
Thanks in advance for your help and time!!!

Just 'upgraded' from a peg T 615 to an NX 80V. When I took the unit back to Best Buy, they really looked at it hard. I thought that their scrutiny was not warranted...anyway, they deemed that the battery life was defective and offered a 'comparable replacement'. They showed me a comparable unit which cost $179.99. They said that I could do an even exchange or if I wanted to upgrade, they would apply $179.99 to the price of the upgraded model. They had an opened NX80V in like new condition, the manager said that he would knock off $100 off the price and apply the $179.99...
I am a proud owner of an NX80V...
Regards and good luck,
GS

Store to store variability. Chances are you won't have any problems.

I recently exchanged for my NX80 when my NX70V battery started getting real bad. The first BB I took it to said they had to run tests on it for 24-hours before they would let me exchange. I told them I couldn't be without it for that long, took it to another one, and they exchanged it for me with minimal hassel.

Thanks for all the posts... Since my problem is so "visible" and 100% reproducible, I am hoping that they are not going to give me any hard time. The process was smooth when I upgraded from a 760C that had tons of dust particles under the screen to a NR70 about a year ago...
Now the question is to upgrade to what?
75% - I am getting NX80
25% - I want to play with UX50 when they are available in stores...

Call up the PDA department and ask over the phone and ask them about the warranty. Also, when they ask you what's wrong with it... Explain it, but pretend you don't know what you're talking about. It works.

I just "upgraded" my TG-50 to a NX-73, they were so helpful that they even split the difference in cost with me! My TG-50 just died, not sure what happened, but it wouldn't even turn on, BB said that they send all of them to a recycling plant, they don't even open them up. With the ESP, the insurance company is charged and reimburses BB, so that's why they don't care.

I had a problem with my camera and video recorder, walk-in to the local BB’s and told them that my camera didn’t work even with that hard reset, the tech just had the unit on his hands for about a minute and said go and get a different one, so I did. Now IM a new proud new owner of a NX80. I just got and even exchange due to that I had paid 599.99 for the previous Clie. And at the same time my PSP transfer to my new Clie. Nice transaction:)

I had a T615 and was having a lot of problems with Graffiti, my battery not keeping a charge and a block of pixels that were dim. I didn't have any problem with Best Buy and I used the value of the T615 towards my NX-80, which I love.

I had to return my NX70 3 weeks ago and got the NX80. The criteria seems to be that the unit has to be unusable for the exchange. If the hinge is loose, they probably consider that to be cosmetic. The first guy I talked to at BB said mine had to be sent in when the manager walked by. The manager said that BB does not service those any longer, they just swap them out.
Good luck.

Well.... with my criteria, a unit with a VERY loose hinge is NOT usable. I will talk to the manager if necessary. I also have the intermittend loss of access to the memory stick, but I may not be able reproduce that in the store...

Keep us posted how you come out. I just bought a brand new open box NX 60 from BB and the two year warranty. Hoping it will die within the two years so I can swap it for the latest and greatest.
Does BB give you credit for the original retail price, or just what you paid for the unit when swapping?

Same battery issues with NX70, but without no hassles at all.
Like someone mentioned, it service on how you're treated does vary from store to store and shift to shift as well. :)

"Does BB give you credit for the original retail price, or just what you paid for the unit when swapping?"
My experience was that I got credit for what I paid for the unit originally.

Even better, go to the store (prefably with a witness) pretending like you are interested in buying a new PDA, and let them volunteer all information about how the PSPs work (play hard to get on the PSPs, and they might promise all sorts of things :D). Remember who said what, and go right back in (grabbing the NR you left in the car) and get your NR replaced.
Works everytime. (I sometimes go even further by recording the conversation with my NX secretly).
