CLIE Viewer v1.1 (CF)

All the above "sony software" were supported.
Of course it copes with Japanese edition and English edition both.

Could someone clarify the instructions a bit? It's great and I understand most of it, but I'm a little fuzzy on what we're doing with the apps. You copy them to MS then patch them? Or patch them on the PC?

After I patch Movie Recorder, if I choose MS, it records to CF; If I choose CF, it records to MS. Any others have the same problem? I use NX73 without Eruware CF driver nor hacked SONY CF driver.

Just a note...
Used an original patch a few days ago.
For no particular reason names for original "AudioPlayer" changed into "CFAudioPlayer", "Mov Play" turned into "CFMov Play" and of course ""Mov Rec" became "CFMov Rec".
Apparently the same is valid for "CFVoi Rec".
So on my NX73 I ended up with 2 of each icons starting with "CF".
It's very annoying - no way of telling which one is for which card...
Note 2 audio players, 2 movie players and 2 movie recorders on the picture below!

For NX73/80 users, you don't need any patches for Audio/Movie players. Just install the original Audio/Movie players from UX50. Any CF drivers are also unnecessary.

My "NX80V" works normally.
Why is it?
It may become a different movement with "NX73V".
I try to examine it as much as possible.

Turns out that most of Mini's patches don't work on my NX80. According to Mini's page down near the bottom. My versions are the older one in every case.

this problem is solved after I redo the whole process.

I have downloaded this. I use the NX-80 and I don't get the options of CF and MS. I only get MS or MS priority. I have tried to install it in RAM or even in the CF card. I guess we still have to have 2 versions of the SW running.

As for the ability to run without the MS in place, I can't seem to get this function. It still needs to be there when initialising.

Mini : As a a program to patch in the CF, this is really fantastic! Thanks for the hard work! I mean it! Where would be all be without you.

As soon as I delete the add-ons the original names restore themselves.

Though it is disappointed, I don't have "NX70".

As a precondition.
"Mini's patch" doesn't work if "CF Driver" isn't made equal to "NX73/80".
The technique that it patches "sony software" isn't used in former "NX70".

Have DL and transfer .prc files to my 512 CF card under the Launcher folder, but the CF clieviewer takes me back to the original viewer with out being able to see that picture that I tock using CF Clie Camera. The only way that I’m able to see those pictures is thru Acid Image viewer. But all other CF Applications Work Great.

Note that I have Save and used my CF applications straight from the CF Card from the Launcher folder.

I have all 6 PRC files if you want them, but you can only used them on the NX73 or NX80. uwilloz2me@yahoo.com:D

Hi. I have tried the patches. There is nothing wrong with the patches, but it still seems that I need to keep the MS in before the system can recognise the CF card as the proper source.

I have followed your instructions to work out the patches. I install them in the launcher directory of the CF card. For Video Recorder, it requires the MS card present before it works. For Clie Camera, it is the same also. I have tried the Clie Viewer, but it doesn't pick up the CF card at all. Am I doing something wrong?

There is also no option to choose between the CF or the MS. I thought I should report that, in case it was not meant to be like that.

Rowver - Unless you have the UX apps patched that's exactly how it works. A requirement (though not explained very well in English on Mini's page) is that you must have an MS in the slot. I don't know about Clie Viewer as I don't use it.

Dags- Thanks for your explanation. I did get a little confused and thought the functionality was to be a little different. Thanks for putting me straight. I got a little confused from the website instructions which showed CF as a pulldown option.

Could anyone explain the difference between Priority MS and MS? Is there a difference?

Hi all,

I just wanted to report (and I guess you all know this already) that it appears the Pelaca applications and the Mini patches don't really work that well together.

I had the Mini patches running on the applications from a CF card. I installed the Pelaca applications to the RAM. It seemed fine before, but when I tried the Mini-patched CF Video Recorder program, it only allowed me to record for about 5 secs. It then stopped. The error was something about not enough resources. I have more than enough space on the CF card (about 144 Mb). After that, it recorded to the MS instead.

I thought it might be a conflict situation so I decided to delete the Pelaca application (which is good coz it allows the MS and CF to be selected). I did a soft reboot twice and it seems to be ok now.

I don't really know if this is a known bug, but I want to do my part in trying to get these applications working for everyone. Hope it helps! Sorry if this is a known issue already.

I had the same problem. I noticed you are using Silverscreen. I think its a problem with Silverscreen not recognizing Mini's patched apps. If you go to the Clie launcher. They are all there and so far as I can tell work properly.

I also have NX73 with silverscreen!

Clie viewer: open Filez and seach Clie Viewer. You see 2 files, 1 in rom 1 in ram. Clic file in ram, detail, and put in before the name file "CF" : Cfclie viewer, reset and enjoy.

You may have to visit any local electronics store with memory stick in hand, and use FileZ to rip them out.

IF someone can host these files, I can mail him the files. I've patched them and made some string modification. Therefore, you just install them and use them directly.

Still get the "RunTime Error 5" "Invalid procedure call or argument" on everything I got from the UX50. Except the Audio Player and Movie Player.

I am trying Mini's Patch 2.1 and 2.2. Using the programs from a UX50.

Same thing here. Audio and Movie player from UX50 do not need pathced to be used in NX80V.
ClieCamera, Voice recorder, and Movie recorder cannot be patched by V2.2 patch.

For Voice Recorder, there is no time display if select CF(actually it's called internal media other than CF).
For Movie recorder, there is no card selection at all.

For all, I don't have any problem while using mini's patch program. I also can mail you files only if you can host them. I don't wanna mail these files one by one. My files are patched and I also make some strings edited, so you can us them directly by hardware buttons (VOICE REC/CAPTURE).

PS. If you can read Chinese website, you may download these files from http://www.palmislife.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18838&highlight=&page=1. It's the best Chinese PDA website.:D:D:D

For NX73/80 users, you don't need to install hacked SONY CF driver or Eruware CF driver. Just download and install these SONY Multimedia software.

For NX60/70, NZ90 users, you have to install hacked SONY CF driver or Eruware CF driver currently. Moreover, you may encounter some problems. I'm not sure when I can solve CF problems of NX60/70, NZ90. Maybe it's impossible....

Mini, Thank you for your work. I use your patch from V1.0 until now. but when I use V2.2 with UX50 files, I got "RunTime Error 5" "Invalid procedure call or argument" error as I mentioned before. I have tried many times, even with different OS, win2000 and winXP. Not quite sure what the problem is.

Anyway, thank Siliconbug, I got all UX50 files that have been patched from him with my NX80.
I believe the clie camera is from UX50 since it's version is 2.2 .

Which file you've downloaded? You should download "UX50 Player_E.zip" (English version) or "UX50 Player_J.zip" (Japanese version). Maybe I mix patched and unpatched version together, and upload wrong verion.:confused::p

I use NX80, the Clie Camera V2.2 which comes from UX50 does support 3X zoom in NX80, but who cares and who will use it?

Which file you've downloaded? You should download "UX50 Player_E.zip" (English version) or "UX50 Player_J.zip" (Japanese version). Maybe I mix patched and unpatched version together, and upload wrong verion.:confused::p

You can take a photo without any zoom, and check the image file to see if it is a 1.3MP picture.

That's not requirement, I'm just wondering that camera program can be used in other CLIE w/o downgrading the max. resolutions (i.e. NX80's 1.8MP, NZ's 2MP). If it can't support those resolutions, it is meaningless for owners of NX80 and NZ90. As the largest photo taken can't be saved to CF, only MS (by original program).

And I already tested MovieRec and CLIE Camera. MovieRec is same as VoiceRec in NZ and old NX, unable to show recordable time when CF is selected (I think non-patched driver can show the time but still can't record).

CLIE Camera is not working in NZ. After launched, flash is disabled by default and unable to re-enable. "Capture failure" error displayed when I was trying to take photos (even using MS). As Siliconbug's package has output selection (MS, CF), so no need to run the original version if UX one can fully utilize your NX80 (including 1.8MP photos).

What's the problem you get when trying to move it to MS? Try to check the read-only tag of the file...

The problem I get is when I load the apps to MS launcher folder, it reflects the old apps where there is no CF function. For instance, Clie Camera is version 2.1 without the CF function.

When the same file is loaded in the RAM, it shows version 2.2 and the CF function is activated.

I have tried the apps Movie player, Recorder, Voice Recorder, Camera that was from UX. It seems to work for my MS and my CF card. The resolution doesn't appear to have decreased when taking photos.

When I am using CF, the time left for CF is reflected. Maybe you have to leave the MS in? I have always used it with the CF in.

A question to all : Is it possible to remove the old versions of the Apps from Flash ROM to be stored in a MS as backup and load the UX apps to my NX-80? Is this a risk I should not be taking? Please advise.

This is because most CLIE applications can't be moved to MS launcher folder. You need to use PowerRun or ZLauncher to move them.

Or you can put them in MS launcher folder (except AudioPlayer), but all your hardware keys in CLIE can't use, you need to open them in launcher, not by those buttons (capture, voice rec, etc).

I have used the Pelaca versions of the audio player and movie player. They work fine on the NX-80.

I then tried the same programs from Siliconbug. They seem to do exactly the same as Pelaca's.

As for the Clie Camera, you are absolutely correct, I cannot take 1280x960 shots (1.3 megapixels). It says the option is there, but the camera doesn't take it at this resolution. It only goes up to 640x480 resolution. Sigh....:(

Then the question I have is, how come Mini's applications can be run from the CF/MS launcher folders but not these applications from the UX?

Mini's applications are renamed, so you can place them in MS /CF Launcher folders and run them...in fact, if you copy them into RAM, you will get 2 copies of auc\dio, movie player and so on...

If you want to use the original UX apps and have a separate set of icons for them, simply rename the files in using Filez before copying them into RAM...

After renaming them, you can even move them to FlashRom... that's what I did with the Audio/Movie player from the Pelecca package.

Siliconbug's package is English originally. Pelaca's one is "translated" version. If you need English one, I suggest Siliconbug's one as they are not modified.

Please consider UX applications as an update of CLIE applications. Mini's one is using your NX80 files to patch, so this is the same version. But UX one is newer version. Will you install Sony's update to MS?

And, can you put AudioPlayer (mini's) in MS? I don't think so.

Icon wise, you can rename them if you are using a 3rd party launcher like ZLauncher or YiShow... the default Clie Laucher does not seem to allow us to rename the icons like that.

My work is based on mini's patch program. I just remodify patched software, and make them compatible with hardware buttons.

Although it's almost perfect in NX73/80, we still encounter some problems in NX60/70 and NZ90.

I keep these UX50 applications as the same names as NX built-in applications, because I wanna use hardware buttons to control UX50 applications. You can rename them with any name you want, so you can move them into Flash. After that, you'll have 2 versions of each applications. For example, built-in Audio Player and renamed Audio Player. Juat as I said, you can't use hardware buttons to control renamed applications anymore.

If you don't know how to use FileZ and RsrcEdit and don't know why, I suggest you don't touch them.

I can confirm this. Also, video recorder recognises the CF but acts as if the card was full, i.e. the same as Voice rec. Also, Zoom does not work in the camera.

I read the explanation about "The 3 bit solution" of CliePet.
As long as "CFSlot_hack.prc" is used, "CF" is the appearance treated as the 2nd "MS".
It may be slightly difficult to deal with this in my technique.

In spite of using the same technique, only "CF CLIE Cam" works fine.

Mini, NX73/80 don't need any hacked CF driver or Eruware CF driver. If you downlad UX50 Players_E.zip or UX50 Player_J.zip and install in your NX80, you'll see they work fine with original built-in CF driver.

Currently only old NX60/70 and NZ90 encounter these problems.

IMHO, NX73/80 already support multi-VFS, and that's why we can use original Audio/Movie Players (from UX50, which support multi-VFS) directly in NX73/80. SONY just install old version of Audio/Movie Players which don't support multi-VFS in NX73/80.

IF you install other multi-VFS supported software in NX73/80, such as McFile, you can operate CF card without any additional CF drivers. McFile shows one MS icon and one CF icon correctly.

Built-in PicselViewer in NX73/80 can also see both CF and MS and open files without any additional CF drivers.

Hi,

The following applies to the NX80. If you load the UX50 applications to the RAM, it should be able to give you multi card functionality. You don't need to modify these files. You need to load it to RAM and it can't be on the launcher file of a MS/CF card.

You will get 2 apps of each. This means 2 audioplayer, 2 movieplayer, 2 clie camera. One of these apps is the original provided in the ROM of your NX80 and the other is the UX version.

According to your report.
Even if it copies these four files to "NX60", it does not work well.
There may be a "prc file" required for others.

I am very confused after reading all these posts. You all are doing great work but I my technical understanding is limited. Can anyone give me instructions how to set up my 73 with minis's patch? Thanks!

i've already installed pelaca's cf driver and also have downloaded and installed pelaca's audio payer 3.1, movie player 1.1, and camera 2.2, and all are working just fine. i'm really interested in having the patched versions of the movie and voice recorder. i already have the mini's patch v.2.2 but i have yet to use it. what should i do next?

I've an NX70V myself, actually Mini's patch never supported the NX60/70 series. As far as I know, it only supported NX73/80. :(

You're suppose to copy the 3 files from the NX73/80:
AudioPlayer.prc
MoviePlayer.prc
MovieRecorder.prc

then execute Mini's patch on your PC & run those 3 files through the Patch & re-install those 3 files back inside the NX73/80.

I've tried to use NX70's original files & tried to run with Mini's patch but negative results.

I've also tried to use NX73/80's original *.prc files (already patched by Mini's tool) on my NX70 but still got nothing. :(

What I am currently using is CliePet's 3bit hack & it works just fine. ;)
Since you already have Pelaca's CF Driver & is already working fine for you, Mini's patch isn't really necessary. It is quite a simple and direct patch & was released for owners of the NX73/80. :p

yup, that cleared things up for me. nice hearing that explanation first-hand from someone who actually tried the patch on an NX70V. i know that with pelaca's driver, you'd still be able to save to the CF movies and voice recordings. unfortunately, that's not always the case. it would be really reat having a patch for the NX70V. at least all the others work just fine, and for that we are very grateful.

Well I have got the movie record to work with the cf card on an NX70.

Here is the trick install the 3bit MS patch for the nx70 then copy movie rec into ram the set movie rec to use either MS or Priority MS player now insert both cf card and ms card and reset the nx70 you will now see that the movie rec will use the cf card to record the movie.

What I have found is that:
The memory stick is needed in order to record the cf card.
After the rec is finished the nx70 will reset but the movie is still intact and can be played back.
also if you change from movie to still you will need to reset the clie to record a movie to the cf card I guess that a reset app will be handy to have instead of using the reset button.

but it's working on the nx70 but its a bit flakie but at least some one can look deeper into it and find a fix for it.

But I hear the reset after the movie record is a hardware issue as the pay cfutility have the same problems.

anyway that's my thoughts

I have tried to download and install mini's patch many times and it never works; is it possible that the file has been corrupted? all I get are dialog boxes that have lots of ??????'s. looking for help with mini's patch and looking for clie viewer 1.2; thanks-

hi, well, like ptracker, i got the movie rec1.3 to work with CF on my NX70V. It was a hell of a lot of tinkering, patching, unpatching and stuff like that. went through at least 3 hard resets and super amount of resets. then, got the audio player 3.1 to work as well with CF. brilliant stuff. Many thanks to Mini and Pelaca.

BUT, the problem still lies with Movie Rec 1.3 and Voice Rec 1.2. Movie Rec still resets after every record. which is a pain in the a^%.. anyone has any idea how to get rid of it?

voice rec 1.2 can't record on CF at all. Although, it shows MS, CF and Handheld on the List/Rec. Media. Everytime I choose CF, the minutes comes up ---:-- Bloody frustrating... to the point of insanity...

anyone with ideas? i know it is kinda 2 months too late...

I cannot write Clie Camera photo's to a CF card? I have Clie Camera v2.2 installed. What to do? Use Mini's Patch? If so where is the version 2.20? The version I downloaded, v2.0 has an Japanese installation and I am not want to put that stuff on my harddisk.

Though it's a little bit late, I would like to share my experience,

I am using NX73V, while the below five programs could be perfectly work with both CF/MS support in my PDA: AudioPlayer.prc, CLIECamera.prc, Movie Player.prc, Movie Recorder.prc, Voice Recorder.prc

However, regarding CLIE Viewer, I have tried different methods but still could not find a solution, I have tried different methods with the result,

CLIE Viewer 1.1 (originally come from NX73V) - could not see files on CF
CLIE Viewer 1.2 (originally come from TH55) - could see video/ voice recording files on CF/MS, except any photo!
CLIE Viewer 1.1 (minipatch applied) - still could not see files on CF, and more worse, some of the photos on MS are also missing!
CLIE Viewer 1.2 (minipatch applied) - still could not see Photo from CF/MS

I have uploaded the programs (tested with my NX73V) to below link,
