mini's patch still required for NX80?

I have read a lot in this forum and I must say new users of Clie have benefitted so ... o much from the help of many senior members.

After reading a lot about how I can play MP3 and movies from the CF card, I just need some clarification from the many experts on the NX80.

Do I still need mini's patch, considering the new movie player 1.1 and audioplayer 3.1 by Pelaca has been released to allow selection of media type in a single program?

No, it's not.

Pelica's drivers enough.

It's the Pelaca package, that includes the drivers from the Sony NX73/80 Clies, along with the hacked Sony multimedia apps for them to be multicard aware.

I still use mini's patch for the voice recorder and movie recorder, esp. voice recorder. I don't think the Voice recorder from UX50 works with CF card now in NX80 or 70V.
Please let me know if you guys have them work.

Voice Recorder v1.2 from UX50 + Mini's Patch = CF/MS supported.

yep, here comes Siliconbug with the new VoiceRecorder Ver.1.2 modified, remapped the path to CF Card, for directly voice recording to the CF, nice one. Too bad it won't work on my NX70 though, any new updates that would make this support for the NX70 yet? Siliconbug? :p

Currently, I'm thinking about why NX60/70 can't use the original SONY CF driver from NX73/80. I think that's the key point. If we can find out how to use the original SONY CF driver in NX60/70, then we get the answer.

oh, by the way, the new Eruware driver ver.1.2.1 is out, I've tried it, not much difference since I've got all these MoviePlayer/ AudioPlayer updated already. It also didn't speed up on MoviePlayer, so some movies again couldn't be played back, so I guess I'll stick with the current driver settings. & thanks for looking into the VoiceRecorder, Siliconbug! :D

Thank for looking into this problem with the VoiceRec1.2, though it's not that big of a deal for me, I can still record to MS Pro.

I think some important libraries or files are missing, something different between the NX73/80 from the NX60/70.

On the NX60/70 the StatusBar can't show the CF icon even I've installed the StatusBar.prc from NX80.
The same case also happens in MoviePlayer, when I select movies between MS/CF, it shows 4 MS icons, but on the NX73/80 there're 2 MS & 2 CF icons.

Also with the VoiceRecV1.2 everything works except the record to CF Part. Again, the CF icon is missing, so it's just blank with "--:--:--" showing on VoiceRecorder.

I think all these dealing with the CF icon is the main reason causing the problem, it seems the NX60/70 only can see the CF Card as an extra MemoryStick, but not actual CF. So when you remap the VoiceRecorder to CF, the NX60/70 again can't see the CF Card there. Any ideas?

I think the problem comes from the hacked SONY CF driver. The hacked SONY CF driver cheats on NX60/70, so NX60/70 thinks itself comes with 2 MS slots.

If we can find out how to use the original SONY CF driver in NX60/70, or get a newer version of hacked SONY CF driver (CliePet, hello?:D) to tell NX60/70 there're one MS slot and one CF slot, not two MS slots, then we solve this problem.

Another ultimate solution is....put your NX60/70 on eBay, and get yourself a new NX73/80.:D

I also have the SONY CF driver from NX73/80 (unhacked) installed within my NX70. I have both the "hacked & unhacked" file within the same unit. Just change the attribute then I can swap between the 2 version.
I've tried installing NX80's StatusBar.prc & changing to the unhacked version, but CF icon still missing. Not showing in StatusBar.prc & not showing in MoviePlayer, just 2 MS & 2 "empty" space. Any ideas? :(

No worries about CF/MS, but then that would mean less fun. :(
& no JackFlash to free up the ROM in UX50 (English or Japanese version).
Because JackFlash on NX80 English version you get 15MB free.
JackFlash on NX80 Japanese version only 5MB free. Bummer*

Right....you don't need to worry about CF slot, because there isn't any CF slot in UX50. (OK, another ultimate solution:p)

IMHO, I still prefer NX73, not UX50
1) Larger screen. I owned a SHARP Zaurus SL-C700 before, so I really don't like this small (and stupid) UX50 screen.
2) Dual slots (CF slot really rocks now:D)
3) Audio remote. (That's required for a MP3 player, isn't it?)
4) If you like it, get JackFlash and get yourself another 15MB "Internal Media"

However, it's a pity that SONY don't have another new NX model without any camera.

I've tried to rip most built-in .PRC from NX73 and installed into NX60. I can see a CF icon (with a ? mark on it) in StatusBar, and the HOLD switch is "switched" When i push to hold, it doesn't hold, but when I push it to unhold, it holds.:confused:

I don't have too much time to find the answer in NX60/70. If I can't get it by this weekend, I think I'll stop finding the answer.

You can not install mini's patch in CLIE, because that's for Windows.

You need to use mini's patch utility to patch Voice Recorder V1.2 from UX50 in a PC, and then install this patched Voice Recorder V1.2

Really? I went & had a look today in person myself, I did find it small and compact, alright considering that it has built-in WiFi & BlueTooth of course. :)
However the screen could have been much larger, & the keyboard was kind of wierd since it was actually larger than the screen itself.

If they had the screen size proportional to the NX size then that would be much nicer, for the good or the bad, it was a step forward for Sony I guess. It was quite tempting holding it in my hand, the thing that attracts me the most is the 30fps SuperQuality MoviePlayer playback. But other than that, it seems I can pass on it.

So what new avatar would be your flavor then? email me eh?! ;)
